By now, the theme of "American girl visits a European country and falls in love with its prince during Christmas" is large enough to be considered its own genre. "The Princess Twist," however, brings something a little different as it has two leads and two love interests.

Stacy De Novo, a baker from Chicago, decides to participate in the International Christmas Baking Competition in the European country of Belgravia with her sous-chef and best friend since childhood, Kevin. Kevin, a single dad, brings his daughter Olivia along, who is excited to experience a fairy tale Christmas.

While setting up for the competition, she runs into the Duchess of Montenaro, Margaret, who will be giving the award to the winner of the competition. As soon as they see each other, they realize they look exactly alike, and the Duchess invites Stacy to the palace in the guise of wanting a consultation for her wedding cake. When Stacy arrives, the Duchess reveals that she wants to switch places with Stacy for two days, as she doesn't know what it's like to be a civilian and she's to marry Prince Edward of Belgravia on New Year's. Stacy agrees to switch and go back to their regular lives on the midnight before the baking competition.

While in each other's places, Stacy finds that she gets along well with the prince, who is as schedule-oriented as she is. She also encourages the prince to get more involved in the local orphanage that the royal family held a benefit ball for. They visit the orphanage, and, upon learning that there isn't enough money for Christmas presents, proposes that she and the prince go shopping for toys and bake treats for the children.

Meanwhile, Olivia figures out "Stacy" isn't who she says she is when she doesn't do their secret handshake correctly. She's all for the idea, though, and tries her best to set Margaret up with her dad. Margaret doesn't mind this, as she is very attracted to Kevin, and he is in awe of "Stacy's" new spontaneous streak.

There was a little nod to another Netflix Original Christmas movie, "A Christmas Prince," in a scene in which Kevin says the movie is Stacy's favorite, and he and Margaret cry after watching it.

While this is a very cute movie and enjoyable to watch, there are some things that didn't make sense. For instance, Margaret keeps emphasizing how she had to marry Edward because of her duty, but since the movie's set in modern times, royalty don't have to marry for alliances anymore. Also, one of Kevin's main selling points to convince Stacy to go to Belgravia was that the competition could "put them on the map". One of their bakery's customers was the mayor, and Stacy is well-known enough to get recognized by a reporter on the street, not lining up with the idea that their bakery is unknown.

All in all, it's a sweet treat to start off the holiday season.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week.
