It's Okay To Skip Class Once In A While If You Need Time To Take Care Of Yourself
Sometimes we all need a second to breathe.
College is terribly stressful and extremely tiring. Classes can begin as early as seven in the morning and end as late as nine at night (depending on the college you attend, of course).
After all of those long hours in class, you come home, have a ton of papers to do, and studying to do on top of that. On top of all that, you have to try to find time to sleep and recuperate after a long hard day but sometimes, free time is extremely limited.
I know so many fellow students that exhaust themselves to the point where their mental health is suffering. If you are in a bad state mentally, then your education, work, and social life are all going to suffer just as much.
It is nearly impossible to be productive when you're exhausted. Our bodies are simply not made to endure long periods without sleep.
What you don't realize, is how unhealthy that is.
It is okay to miss class once in a while. And by that, I mean occasionally, not every day.
Despite what many believe, missing class occasionally will not ruin you, your GPA, or degrade you as a student. Many students have this idea programmed into their brain that if they miss a day, they will automatically fail. From personal experience, I have found that most professor actually will understand if you miss class once in a blue moon and not penalize you for it.
The education system is extremely demanding, especially in college. You do not wanna burn out early. If you need extra time to do work, prepare for a presentation or even take a mental health day, that is totally okay.
Taking a day off does not make you lazy.
Humans go on vacation to ease the mind from work. As college students, sleeping through that 8 am is the equivalent of a small vacation for our mind, body, and soul.
Take care of yourself.
