Advertised as Morgantown's "hottest" Gentleman's Club, the Blue Parrot is iconic for its persistent hiring signs and generally trashy aesthetic. While I've never been (and, honestly, do not know a single person who has, either), it's definitely a Morgantown staple.

Built in only God knows when, Dadisman holds its ground as one of the older dormitories at WVU. Unlike a fine wine, Dadisman has not gotten better with age and is known for being one of the most undesirable dorms on campus. One of the memories that sticks with me from my freshman year is sitting in a room in Dadisman that was well above 80 degrees, with about 10 other people, drinking Burnett's mixed with warm Hawaiian Punch. If that doesn't describe Dadisman in a sentence, I don't know what does.
One of the newer additions to campus, Evansdale Crossing works as a Student Union for those living on the Evansdale campus. Featuring eateries like Panini Pete's, Hugh Baby's, Waldo's Chicken, and more, Crossing is a hotspot for those living in Evansdale dorms and with classes on Evansdale.
Any student of WVU recognizes the iconic flying WV cookie, handed out at nearly every student event that happens. The light sugar cookie is an easy and delicious snack for any student to enjoy.
Due to the presence of WVU, Morgantown is truly representative cultures, ethnicities, and religions from around the world. You can walk 20 feet from where you are and find someone from across the globe. The experience of living in Morgantown is unlike any other.
Our beloved fight song, "Hail, West Virginia!" is sung at every football and is a favorite of students and alum alike. In the words of the song, "It's West Virginia, now we cheer!"
A student's ID card is essential to everyday life in Morgantown. Whether it be a PRT or bus ride, a meal swipe at the Mountainlair, or being able to take a midterm or final, your ID is definitely something to have with you at all times. In addition to this, your ID is almost a sign of status. WVU ID designs change every so often, and when they do, spotting a freshman becomes notably easier. Seniors and fifth-years pride themselves in their old IDs.
Loved by many, J.A.C.S. is the convenience store/coffee shop that takes up residence in the Mountainlair. Whether you need a scantron, a snack, a pepperoni roll, or a quick pick-me-up, J.A.C.S. has your back. I could not count the number of times I've stopped there between classes for whatever I needed. J.A.C.S. is easily one of my favorite quick stops on campus.
Probably one of the most popular (if not the most popular) grocery store in Morgantown, Kroger is an essential for students and families alike. With two locations, including one right beside Towers (dubbed "Kro-Ghetto") and one in Suncrest Town Center (dubbed "Kro-Gucci"), Kroger has everything you need from quinoa and sushi to beer and bread.
Being named the #2 party school in the nation (we're coming for your spot, Tulane), it's no secret that a WVU student indulges in some libations from time to time (or every weekend... Same thing). Liquor is loved by many and also hated by many after a long night with one or two too many shots. Whether your liquor store of choice is Ashbrooke or BFS, you'll find what you need in Morgantown.
WVU football games are without a doubt the highlight of the average student's fall semester. From tailgating to the student section to our amazing football team, football games are an experience unlike any other. In addition, our iconic football stadium can fit around 60,000 people and is a landmark of Morgantown.
Every weekend (and some week days), the students of WVU come out for a night of dancing, partying, and getting belligerent. Again, being the #2 party school in the nation, we in Morgantown pride ourselves on our ability to turn up, turn out, and have a good time. Whether your prefer the clubs, a frat party, or a house party, you'll find something with ease.
While some students do live in dorms and university-owned housing, many choose to live in off-campus housing, scattered all around Morgantown. Many quaint, nice, and beautiful houses and apartments can be found, perfect for students. However, you also have to be safe and make sure you know what you're getting into. I know more than a few people who have had to perform an "Extreme Makeover: Morgantown Edition" on their homes, due to the less-than-desirable conditions.

Did you know that WVU has its own Quidditch team?! This club sport team has weekly practices and plays a mean game of Quidditch, and also is the only official Quidditch team in the State of West Virginia!
West Virginia University's Rifle Team is not only award-winning, but is the Great America Rifle Conference (GARC) regular-season champion for five years in a row, and for the 11th time in the program's history. We have a lot of pride for our rifle team and cheer them on as we roll into a new school year!
Whether you need a fairly average morning coffee or have a hankering for some mac and cheese bites at 2 A.M. after going out, Sheetz is always the answer. Though the Wawa vs. Sheetz argument has strong opinions on both ends, I think we all know who the clear winner is. Sheetz is a Morgantown staple and enjoyed by 70-year-old men and college students alike.
Though this breakfast chain is normal for some, anyone coming from a place without a Tudor's will be in for a shock when you grab some food. With delicious biscuits, killer breakfast food, and sweet tea that is actually addictive, Tudor's is my favorite breakfast spot by far.
Arguably the most important road in Morgantown, University Avenue runs through the heart of campus. Stretching from Downtown to Evansdale, University Avenue features essential WVU spots like the Mountainlair, Sheetz, U Club and U Place, McDonald's, and the library. A walk down University Avenue is a surefire way to find something to do.
With some of the most beautiful sights to be seen across the country, Morgantown's views are truly unbeatable. Whether you're into a mountain range, a sunset, some fall leaves, or waterfalls, Morgantown has your back.
I mean, come on.
WVU offers an incredible amount of activities across campus, so there's something for everyone. From Greek life to guitars to gaming to pretty much anything you can think of, WVU's got it.
If you've ever lived in Morgantown, you truly know that country roads will always take you home. It's no secret that Morgantown is loved and adored by all of its occupants, students and families alike. Living in "Almost Heaven" is as good as it can get.
Did you know that WVU has its own zip-line?! The university prides itself on its vast amount of outdoor activities and opportunities, including its state-of-the-art zip-line course!
Let's face it, there are not that many of them. Maybe in numbers but skill wise, everyone wants to grab a good running back while they have a chance. Plus, let's face it, they PUT UP POINTS. Depending on the opponent, unless they have a strong force defense, your running back has a chance to get you wins. Therefore, I'd highly recommend drafting them first, if you have a good draft pick number and they're not already taken.

The G.O.A.T. is back people. Thomas Edward Patrick Brady Jr. is ready for yet another season of making fans and hater's jaws drop at his 60-yard touchdown passes. There are many records just waiting to be broken by him this season, and another Super Bowl trophy staring him in the eyes waiting to be held. QBs can be a positive top pick, the thing is there are so many, except the priceless Brady of course, players that will put up a sufficient amount of points for your team this season.

They're a step above the kickers, but choosing a good defense doesn't come before getting the key players, and even bench players, you need on your roster. They can give you points, depending on the game and the intensity of the opponent, but get those must have men first before signing away to a defense that can fluctuate throughout the season.

Prepare your winners trophy you made from the garbage you found around your house, and the loser's punishment of wearing a cheerleading uniform for a day, because in a few short weeks Saturdays and Sundays will be not just for the boys, but for football.
Whether you're coming back to campus or it's your first year, it is a good idea to get to know the people in your classes. It could be the start of a friendship or just a helpful acquaintanceship with someone in class.
All professors are required to have office hours in order to help their students. Take advantage of these. If you don't fully understand a concept, the best person to ask is the person teaching the class.
Like in #2, you will want to seek help from your professors. You may know when the office hours are, but you have no idea where those office hours will be! The best way to find out is to look at your syllabus and walk around campus. You may even run into some new friends along the way.
Exams... You hear that word and many cringe at the thought. Professors across campus will use these sheets to grade your exams. Answers are entered by darkening bubbles that correspond to the correct answer. There are many different types of scantrons, so MAKE SURE you ask your professor or look at your syllabus to make sure you have the right one.
Every college lecture has different policies. The most common is this: You can only miss three days before a letter grade is dropped. If you miss something in class, it is your responsibility to get the information.
Some of these ultimatums may sound harsh when heard or read, but your professor is not a demon. These are rules that they also have to follow. If you have to miss class because of illness, a family issue, or something else drastic, they will help you the best they can. They want you to succeed just as much as you do.
You're halfway through your 8:30 A.M. lecture and doze off for a brief second. Do not be afraid to raise your hand and ask the professor to repeat what they said. It is quite likely that others may have missed the same information that you did. If raising your hand isn't really your thing, then you should speak to the professor after class or go to office hours to get help.
Most college students are BROKE!!! Any time that you walk across campus, it will soon become an instinct to stop by those groups of people handing out doughnuts or t-shirts!
Welcome to West Virginia University, where Mountaineers are always free and the Chick-fil-a line is a mile long.
The Mountainlair at WVU recently received a remodel that made our Chick-fil-A even bigger. As a result, maybe the average student's struggle to eat fried chicken will be a bit easier. Get in line quickly as it's best to get there early. Once those 10 A.M. lectures let out, the crowd begins to form.
This is not something you'd typically hear from a first-year student, but parking is the worst. The Coliseum parking lot is free for everyone and is limited on basketball game days. The lot does fill up quickly in the morning, so if you plan to park your car there for the day, you should arrive there around 8:30 to secure a spot...
For those traveling to and from campus via bus, it can be difficult to keep track of the buses. I've been asked this question many times, standing by the Life Sciences Building (where many buses stop). If you are having trouble catching your bus there are several apps out there to help you track the bus you need. The app I use is called "Mountain Line Transit Authority Bus Finder". If it is an apartment bus you are looking for, there may be a way to track their bus. Just contact your leasing office to ask!
Every WVU student will encounter the stairs next to the Business & Economics building. They are steep... And you will probably traverse these demonic steps multiple times a day. Make sure you bring a water bottle with you and take your time on days with bad weather. I've seen many students slip down these stairs...
The PRT makes WVU very unique. It allows students to get across campus in a timely manner. BUTTTTT... It is often in need of maintenance. The PRT can also stop while you're on it. Arriving late for a class and saying that the PRT is down is something that the professors of WVU understand. The University does a great job of keeping everyone updated on the status of the PRT.
If you ever question using the PRT after you get out of class, consult your MIX account. It is constantly updating information on the PRT. If checking MIX isn't quite your style, download the "WVU Mobile" app from the App Store or the Play Store. It will tell you what is going on with the PRT and has maps to help you find your way around campus.
"SWEET CAROLINE! EAT S**T PITT!!" You will hear this on game days, in the parking lot, in class, in dining halls, in bathrooms, during club meetings, walking around campus, on the bus, on the PRT, or even at the hospital. Wherever you are, there is always a chance that you will hear someone yell this. If you are a WVU student, chances are you will join in...
Much like the previous, you can hear the proud chant of the Mountaineers anywhere on campus. Saying this gives you a sense of pride with every echoing response. LET'S GO... MOUNTAINEERS!
This is a song known world-wide and that is sung at the conclusion of any WVU sporting event where the Mountaineers come out on top. Something every student should experience is swaying with the sweaty, drunk person next to them as you sing "Country Roads" after a WVU victory.
