To The Person Too Stressed Out They Can't Sleep
You wake up in the middle of the night, just thinking about everything you have to do.
Whether you are stressed about school, sports, relationships, or anything else, being stressed is never fun. Sometimes it feels like you are carrying the whole world on your shoulders, and it may come crashing down at any moment. Sometimes it's so bad you can't sleep at night.
You can't fall asleep because of how stressed you are. You wake up in the middle of the night, just thinking about everything you have to do. I've been there before, and it is awful.
It might feel like your stress is coming from outside sources, but most of it is self-imposed. We put a lot of pressure on ourselves to do the things we feel like we should do and to accomplish the things we think society expects of us.
But the thing is, you are usually the only one putting these expectations on yourself. You are the one who puts together these ideas of what you should do, or what you should be accomplishing. The people who matter in your life will support you, no matter what your dreams or goals are.
While it may seem terrible now, and it may seem like you have so many things to be stressed over, a lot of them won't matter in a few months, a few weeks, or even a few days. When you are stressing over what grade you get on a final, that won't matter in a few months.
Almost everything in life is temporary, so it isn't worth stressing yourself out over something that won't matter down the road. Months from now, you might look back on this moment and laugh at yourself for stressing over something so miniscule in the long run.
Take it one step at a time. We are used to thinking about multiple things at once, and that makes it worse. Try to think about everything in steps. If you are stressed about multiple things, take it one thing at a time. Which stressor can you eliminate first? Try to eliminate it. If all you can do is wait, just wait on it.
Think of it all as a step by step process.
No matter what, you will get through this. Your stress will be over soon, despite it seeming never-ending right now. Push through, don't stress yourself out for unnecessary reasons, and you'll get through everything eventually. You got this.
