To The Friend Who Was There For The Most Important 7 Years Of My Life
We might be graduating college soon, but I will never forget the middle school and high school memories we shared.
If you have ever made a friend in middle school that you kept throughout high school, congratulations. That means you made it through years of corny nicknames, inside jokes, and all of the awkward stages of being a middle schooler. Middle school a few years ago is not the same as it is now. Not everyone had a cellphone and we actually looked our age. So, to the friends from middle school who are still staying in touch, big shoutout to you!
Thank you for growing up with me and being confused about things I wish we didn't have to know about now. For learning about periods, boys, makeup, skin care, and all things middle school related with me. I still remember your first crush, the first time we crushed on the same person, and then both of our very first boyfriends. And I can be very sure when I say this: the man that gets to be your husband is going to have his hands full with all of the joy and craziness you will bring into his life.
Thank you for having more embarrassing pictures of me than cute ones, and laughing at them with me. We let society think we have to look so perfect on the outside, it is good to take a moment to laugh about a silly outfit or face that reminds us of being kids and growing up. And the glow up was so good for us, I couldn't imagine not getting to see how much you changed and grew during high school. Plus, our pictures got cuter when we got to high school!
Thank you for being the friend my mom always trusted. You were the best plus-one when I got to bring a friend on vacation. If I said I was going to hang out with you, the answer was never no. Whether we were getting into trouble or just hanging out, it was always a good time. There were fights and tears, but there was a whole lot more laughing.
Thank you for still being someone I can go to for anything, now that we are in college. There are not many friends who can stay so close while being far apart. I know that we both have new friends and friend groups we hang out with now, but if they are anything like you I am always happy if they keep you happy. I have friends who live in the same city with me that I can't get ahold of, but I know for sure that you're always a text or a phone call away.
Finally, thank you for always keeping in touch and making time to hang out when we are both home or both off from work. I'm still your biggest fan and you should definitely remember me when you're famous. you're all grown up, married, and moved away just remember to call or visit me every once in a while, otherwise, I'll post embarrassing photos of you from middle school.
Love always, your high school and middle school BFF.
