For Brian Levitas, a senior in an off-campus fraternity, No-Shave November hits home. Last year, Levitas was diagnosed with lymphoma, a group of blood cell tumors. Chad Silver and Logan Weisberg, friends of Levitas, decided to create an initiative as "Team Bri Guy." The plan was for the entire fraternity, friends and family to participate in No-Shave November while trying to raise money to help find a cure of lymphoma. The boys put their razors down from Oct. 31 to Dec. 1 and started raising money instead. As the senior members of the frat grew out their mustaches and beards, the money kept flowing. Although some boys grew wild, untamable beards while some could only grow a few hairs, the boys raised more money than they could imagine.
"We didn't really have a goal last year," Levitas said. "We just kinda went with it, and thought that any amount of money raised would be considered successful."
Last November, they ended up raising over $60,000 - talk about a lot of money! This year, the goal is to raise over $75,000. The boys were so successful last year that they even made it onto the Today Show. I guess we will see what they can accomplish this year.
"I was more honored than shocked when I saw how much money we raised, because so much money was raised under my name," Levitas said about the large amount of money they raised last year.
Every small donation is extremely helpful and can help someone's life. I challenge you to put your razors down and visit Crowd Rise to donate and help find the cure!
