My Sad Song Playlist

Everyone has those songs that they listen to when they are upset.

My Sad Song Playlist

Oh admit it, you have a sad song playlist too.

When you're feeling down, because someone broke your heart, you're fighting with a friend, or you did badly on an exam, you listen to that playlist. Those same songs give you a sense of comfort and security on your bad days.

These three songs that are on my sad songs playlist.

"Amnesia"

"I wish that I could wake up with amnesia
And forget about the stupid little things
Like the way it felt to fall asleep next to you
And the memories I never can escape"

This song has been on my playlist since it was released by Five Seconds of Summer in 2014. It is the typical breakup song and has such relevant lyrics. I have listened to this song hundreds of times, driving in the car with the windows down singing at the top of my lungs. I would totally recommend this song to those with broken hearts. It gives me some peace of mind when I listen to it.

"Heal"

"Take my mind and take my pain,
Like an empty bottle takes the rain.
And heal, heal, heal, heal.
And take my past and take my sins,
Like an empty sail takes the wind.
And heal, heal, heal, heal.
And tell me some things last."

I would recommend listening to this song when you are laying in bed and when you have both headphones in. Tom Odell knows exactly how to make the listeners vulnerable and fall under his spell.

"Piece by Piece"

"And all of your words fall flat
I made something of myself and now you wanna come back
But your love—it isn't free, it has to be earned
Back then I didn't have anything you needed so I was worthless"

Although to me, this song isn't relevant because my father didn't leave me as a kid, I still hang on to every word Kelly Clarkson sings. At some point in my life and I'm sure in everyone's lives, someone has broken their heart. Piece by piece, someone has put you back together.

"Till I Fall Asleep"

"Can we go back before the storm came raging?
And everything we built was gone
So sing to me til I fall asleep
Like the way you did when you were still mine
So sing to me til I fall asleep
Like the way you did when you were still mine
And tell me that it's not over yet"

I recently found a love for Jayme Dee. Her voice is full of soul and beauty. It has a full, rich sound to it and I love every second I hear her sing. Not to mention her songs are very relevant to breakups. I would listen to every one of her songs on repeat for days.

"The Words"

"And I know
The scariest part is letting go
'Cause love is a ghost you can’t control
I promise you the truth can’t hurt us now
So let the words slip out of your mouth"

Christina Perri always will be one of my favorite artists. I feel as if she is often overlooked because she mostly sings about being broken and going through breakups. People put her in the same game as Taylor Swift, when Christina Perri should be in a completely different league.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
