For those who don't know I have been the biggest Lady Gaga fan since the first time I heard "Just Dance", since then I have liked all her work even when she made her album with Tony Bennett.
I have always felt that her music was going with what ever was happening with my life at the time and honestly I cannot agree more now with the release of her new single. Her new single is called "Perfect Illusion" and there is already speculation the she is hinting at the end of her engagement with Taylor Kinney. After 5 years they seemingly just abruptly ended their engagement according to differences and both were extremely busy with their careers.
For those who have followed Gaga for awhile she is very career focused and is constantly traveling for work or working on her newest project. In the song she talks about how "it was a perfect illusion", "you were perfect", "it wasn't love", "it was mistaken for love" which could be alluding to her relationship ending. I have always felt that Lady Gaga has always made music that has always made feel like she knew what I was going through and I couldn't agree more now.
When Lady Gaga ended her engagement it was around the same time mine did which made me feel a little less alone. After listening to "Perfect Illusion" (let's be real I listened to it about a million times within an hour) and reading the lyrics I honestly felt like this woman knew exactly what I was going through. Her music has always made me reflect on what's been going on and this song really made me look back on things and really think about how things went and ultimately ended.
Like I have said multiple times I have no regrets and honestly after reflecting it was the best choice for all parties involved. I feel like in a sense my relationship was the same way it seemed like it was a "perfect illusion" and it's nice to feel that someone else knows exactly what you're going through. I also feel that Lady Gaga herself and this song really throw it out into the world that it's okay to feel this way about something like this ending. Even if it isn't about her engagement ending it is a fantastic song and easily one of the best songs by Gaga that out of all of her music.
So whatever the reasoning behind it is, the song is amazing and I am beyond happy that Lady Gaga is blessing the world with her voice again. I am also happy there is a song like this that expresses exactly how I feel. SO thank you Lady Gaga and I cannot wait to see the video for this single and hear the rest of what she has in store for this new album.
