Country music has many great artists to boast about. There is a lot of great music on Country radio that is being made by fantastic artists. Dierks Bentley, in particular, is one of the hottest country singers on the radio right now. He has been a personal favorite singer of mine for a long time (especially after I saw him at Gillette with Luke Bryan 2 years ago). He has had great hit songs such as Drunk on a Plane, Home, and Somewhere on a Beach. Those are only some of his fantastic singles that have been released over the years. Among all of his hit songs, one stands out to many people (including me). Most recently, he released a single called Different for Girls. It is off a fantastic album called Black (If you have not listened to it I highly recommend it). This is arguably his best and most important single to date. It was released in June a few days before the release of the album. The song is about how guys and girls go through breakups and heartache very differently for many reasons.
I believe that Dierks got it 100% right with this song. He speaks a lot of truth to a subject that not many people talk about. Breakups and heartbreak are so much different for girls than they are for guys. People like to pretend that girls can act like nothing ever happened and move on as quickly as guys can, but its just not true. I know that this article is not a blanket and does not cover every case, but I think it is true for many people. When a girl gets their heart broken they don't handle it like guys do, and there is an argument to be made that they really can't. Many believe that If a girl did what many guys do to get over a break up, they will be largely stigmatized. He, along with Elle King, bring light to this topic through this song.
I think that is why this is such a fantastic song, and why he deserves to be praised for this. It is something that is extremely important to talk about. It is important because it gets to the heart of a problem with break ups. People don't always think about the girls side of a break up. They don't always realize that girls don't deal with things the same way as guys. He sings about this problem in a great way. The song has so much behind it that people (girls in particular) relate to. It is also why girls have taken it to heart as much as they have.
