This is going to be my year.

2016 was literally an insane year. I actually have not spoken to a single person who has said that 2016 was a great year or that it was even good. I personally didn't have an atrocious year, but honestly, it wasn't all that hot either. I want to take on 2017 like it's nobody's business. I want to enter 2017 like I've got it all in the bag like I always have.

We all make "New Year's Resolutions" that make us feel better and we never end up keeping them. This year will be different because instead of making a list that says, "Lose weight, make straight A's, get a perfect score on the SAT, find new friends," I am going a little deeper and really pushing myself in the upcoming year.

In 2017, I will start focusing in on things more. Maybe at school, I can make sure to pay attention as much as possible during class so that I am able to find my strengths and weaknesses in certain subjects. This also applies to anything else in life. If I start a project, I am going to focus on that project. I am going to put everything I have into it so that the project is done to my best ability and not just something that I did halfheartedly. Also in 2017, I am going to start studying more because I really just don’t study enough and studying is important.

I feel like 2017 is going to be a crazy year for me again but not in a bad way. I really feel like I am going to find myself and finding what I love or falling even more in love with the passions I already have. In 2017, I am going try new things and find new hobbies without trying to do everything. I am going to meet new people through these new hobbies and I am going to be able to shed a positive light on new people's lives and these new people will also affect me positively. I am going to surround myself with people who inspire me in 2017. I am going to inspire people in 2017.

In 2017, I am going to have more compassion for those around me. I am going to get new perspectives and learn to walk in other people's shoes. I will have more compassion in 2017, but I will also make sure that in whatever I am doing, I am doing what is best for myself. I am going to remember that it is not my job to please everyone in the universe and I am going to apply that to my life. In 2017, I will do what is good for me. Not in a selfish way, but in a way that will keep me as the best me I can be. This is going to be a real challenge and I am going to have to remember that I cannot be best friends with everyone and some people are just toxic and I can't change that about them.

2017 is going to be a year to remember. 2017 is going to be the year your girl rises to the challenge. 2017 will be fun, stressful, hilarious, difficult, successful and so much more. I am going to make 2017 my own. 2017 is going to be my best year yet so look out new year, here I come, ready as I will ever be and ready to fight to take this year as my own.

an image of taylor swift standing center stage surrounded by her backup dancers in elegant peacock esque outfits with a backdrop of clouds and a box rising above the stage the image captures the vibrant aesthetics and energy of her performance during the lover era of her eras tour

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
