13 Reasons To Embrace Your Inner Child With Disney

Anybody who knows me knows that I am absolutely obsessed with Disney movies. I often joke that movies catered toward 5-year-olds appeal to me because I have such a short attention span. The songs, the imagery and the characters in Disney films just know how to capture my attention. The truth is at 18-years-old, the remarkable makings of Walt Disney still hold the same magic they did when I was a child. There is no doubt in my mind that these productions are timeless and appropriate for any and all age groups. Here are 13 reasons why you should embrace your inner child with the magic of Disney.

1. They're classics!

Did you know that "Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs" is the first animated movie Walt Disney produced? The film was released in 1937 and Disney hasn't stopped making movies since. Anything that's been around for that long must be good, am I right?

2. You get lost in a fairytale...even if it is only for two hours.

Princesses, balls, pumpkins that turn into carriages—Disney movies have it all. Imagination runs rampant throughout these films and sometimes it is nice to allow yours to do the same, even if it is only for a short while.

3. You appreciate the graphics so much more.

Disney's animators are no stranger to detail. With the ever-changing movie industry, it is no wonder their illustrations have only continued to get better and better!

4. They inspire us.

You simply can't deny that warm and fuzzy feeling you have after you've just watched a Disney film. The storylines, characters, and songs leave you feeling like you can conquer the world. Okay, conquering may be dramatic but do not underestimate the power of Disney. When "Princess and The Frog" was released, 50 children in the U.S. were hospitalized with Salmonella from kissing frogs!

5. There is a character for everyone!

You don't have to be a mermaid to understand or relate the struggles of Ariel. Disney creates complex characters that undergo relateable emotions and challenges; we can't help but see ourselves in the icons of these films.

6. THE SONGS!

Oh, come on! Nobody can resist the power of music, especially not the catchy tunes of Disney. Something about "Bare Necessities" just begs for you to dance and sing along.

7. Everyone loves a good love story.

You don't have to be a hopeless romantic to admit that a story like "Aladdin" just makes your heart swoon. Who could blame you with the way Disney reels you into these romantic plots?

8. They made you laugh then, they'll make you laugh now.

With quirky characters and their witty lines, it is impossible to watch an entire movie and not giggle once or twice. The humor that made us laugh when we were young still brings us joy now, no matter how old we are.

9. The villains never get any less evil.

Disney prides itself on the inherit depictions of good and bad throughout their films. The villains, the heroes and the battles all give you someone to root for and someone to fear.

10. It is guaranteed that you will shed a tear or two.

Disney deaths never get easier and no matter how many times you've seen this animated lion's last words, the emotion is still too much to conceal. There's not a dry eye in sight during this scene and I guarantee there never will be.

11. Friendship has never been depicted more beautifully.

Dare I say, Disney has illustrated a definition of friendship that spans across all ages and genders.

12. The mantras are never forgotten.

The iconic mantras of Disney are plastered all over t-shirts, mugs and every cheesy Facebook meme your mom posts. These lines age with grace and don't ever lose their magical touch.

13. Everybody loves a happily ever after.

There's a reason why animations like Disney's are called feel-good movies. The persistent optimism and knowing that there will be a happy ending is the reason we turn to these films for comfort. Each happily every after offers a joy not found anywhere else.

Luckily enough for us, the happily ever afters don't have to end. With its raging successes, it is highly unlikely that the production company will ever let go of Walt Disney's dream and stop making films. For the audience, this simply means that we can look forward to decades of Disney movies to come and decades of magic that lives on with us, no matter what how old you are.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
