For me, the name Charlie Puth came to mind in connection to "Fast and Furious 7." The reason being the song "See You Again" that Puth sings for the movie along with Wiz Khalifa. Hearing the song in connection to the movie sparks emotions many Fast and Furious fans would understand (as well as those who were fans of the late Paul Walker).
Next came his single as a solo artist, "One Call Away." The basic concept of the song is that Puth is a superhero to those close to him, he even says he is better than Superman; and who doesn't like that idea.
That being the first time I had heard of Puth had me eager to look into him and even more excited when I learned that on January 29, 2016, his album "Nine Track Mind" was released. With knowledge in hand, I turned to my phone, opened Spotify and download the album to take a listen.
The album itself has 12 tracks:
1. One Call Away
2. Dangerously
3. Mavin Gaye (ft. Meghan Trainor)
4. Losing My Mind
5. We Don't Talk Anymore (ft. Selena Gomez)
6. My Gospel
7. Up All Night
8. Left Right Left
9. Then There's You
10. Suffer
11. As You Are (ft. Shy Carter)
12. Some Type Of Love
Each song worth listening to if you are looking for the type of music that speaks to your soul and humbles your heart.
However, after playing the album on repeat for some time, a certain song became one of my favorites. The song being titled, "Then There's You." It wasn't simply because of its rhythm, beat or tone; rather it was due to how all three of those things coincided with the lyrics. The song and its message really spoke to me and made me think of all the women in my life.
In the song, Puth sings of that one special woman who is beyond the idea of a beautiful woman. There are no words to describe this woman, she stands out among the crowd as a masterpiece in his eyes. When this woman came into his life, it completely changed. He seems to have this woman on a pedestal to exemplify her excellence and presence she has in his life.
The line that resonates and is the trademark of the song is, "There's beautiful, and then there's you."
So what I have said about the main take away from the song, I would argue highly, that Puth's song is meant for women everywhere to listen to and feel empowered. There is no set definition of beauty, each woman is special in her own right and should feel and know that every day. Hence, why I feel every woman should listen to Puth's album, especially track nine, "Then There's You.
And if you aren't convinced yet just look at the guy. His album is songs of love and companionship. Nothing sounds better to me coming from a handsome guy like Puth.
Happy Listening!
