Crushing On Someone Often Ends Up Crushing You
There's a 50/50 chance of it ending in your favor.
Crushes. You don't always get to pick who they're on and sometimes, they might not even make sense to you. And unfortunately, you usually can't do anything about them but go along with it.
Worse than plain old crushes that go away in a few days or weeks is persistent crushes that, no matter what you do, don't go away easily. I've had one of these for a while now and I am fully aware that nothing would ever happen between me and this other person, but my mind just won't quit.
The feelings aren't completely persistent. It's not the same as an infatuation where he's all I can think about. Just every so often, I'm like damn, I wanna date you. And then I'll have the periods of time where I tell myself not to think about him that way because I know I shouldn't anyway and then I move on and I'm fine. Then the first feeling comes back and I'm SHOOK because I thought I was over it.
In my situation, it sucks because I already know his position and it's not in my favor. I doubt I can do anything to change that (which is fine) yet I still can't seem to shake the crush.
In a situation where you like someone and you don't know how they feel in return also sucks because you're not sure if you're wasting your time or if it could potentially be something. The only advice I have for those in that situation is to tell your crush how you feel (or at least hint at it) or even recruit a wingman to get the other person's thoughts in a less direct way, if you feel more comfortable doing that. It's the only way you'll get closure, one way or another.
Patience seems to be the key for getting over a crush, but my patience has run thin. Talking about it with friends also helps because at least I can put my imagination to rest for a little while and spill my feelings to someone supportive. Friendships last longer than crushes anyway.
