Ferguson Has His Eyes Set On Mcgregor Or The Title
Ferguson is Past Due For His Shot
Despite the controversial ending to his bout with Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone Tony Ferguson put on a spectacular performance. While the fight was called off by the doctor at the beginning of the 3rd round, Tony Ferguson felt like he was just getting started. He was outstriking Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone and did some damage to the face of Cerrone that was noticeable in between rounds.
Before he came out for the 3rd and final round Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone decided he was gonna blow his nose and it completely backfired creating a gruesome injury around his eye as it swelled shut. Luckily nothing was broken, but the air went to his eye and closed it completely as the doctor called off the fight. Tony Ferguson was visually disappointed by the outcome as he wanted to finish the 3rd or finish off Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone in the 3rd.
Once again Tony "El Cucuy" Ferguson proved why he is arguably the best fighter in the UFC's Lightweight division and why he is the biggest threat to the UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib "The Eagle" Nurmagomedov At this point Tony "El Cucuy" Ferguson's title shot is inevitable but Khabib already has an opponent in September. Though Khabib "The Eagle" Nurmagomedov will be defending his UFC Lightweight Champion on September 7th at UFC 242 in Abu Dabi he is not looking past his opponent the UFC Interim Lightweight Champion Dustin "The Diamond" Poirier `Khabib is still looking forward to a fight with Ferguson.
The #2 ranked Lightweight in the division Tony Ferguson is possibly gonna have a rematch with Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone when we consider the controversial ending as Dana White is entertaining that thought. When asked about it after the event Tony "El Cucuy" Ferguson said he does not really care who the UFC puts in front of him at this point. There are a few matchups that could be made for "El Cucuy" until the fight between Khabib and Dustin takes place when they unify the UFC Lightweight championship and the Interim UFC Lightweight championship. At this point, it should be guaranteed that Tony Ferguson gets the next shot at the title but we all know how the UFC works by now.
When we consider everyone the UFC has put in front of Tony "El Cucuy" Ferguson, we can see that he absolutely dismantles them with a brutal beating along with his tremendous cardio that is a lane of its own compared to the rest of the UFC. If Tony Ferguson would like to stay active over the summer, it would make sense to book a fight between himself and "The Notorious" Conor Mcgregor since Conor believes he is entitled to a rematch with Khabib Nurmagomedov. If that was to fall through the next logical opponent would be the human highlight reel the #5 ranked fighter in the lightweight division Justin Gaejthe who recently called out Tony Ferguson on social media. For the most part, the division is kind of put on hold until September so we will see what will happen with "El Cucuy".
