I Used To Love Snow Days, But Now They're Just An Inconvenience

I used to love snow days. Now, it's just an inconvenience. When I see snow is on the way, my heart sinks.
This wasn't always the case. Just a little while ago, I loved the snow and everything that came with it. Sledding, snow angels, and making snow people were things I loved doing whenever a blizzard came. Plus snow days meant no school, who doesn't love that?
Now that I have seen a few more winters, seeing the ground pile up with snow makes me think of all the plans that have fallen through. I think with dread of shoveling all that snow off my driveway, and the inevitable sneaky snow that will get in my shoes and turn my feet into icicles.
When you are a child who has your parents drive you everywhere, snowstorms don't really have that much of an impact on your life. Everything continues to go on as usual. It isn't until you become an adult and have responsibilities of your own that snow really throws a damper in what you wanted to do that day.
It is no longer about getting to wherever you want to go on time. Now it's about how long it will take to shovel your car out of a driveway, or making sure that your sidewalk is cleared, and if your power is going to stay on. There is nothing worse than a freezing house in winter with no power.
One counterpoint that I hear a lot is that snow looks pretty. While that is true initially, that superficial thought goes away when you realize that you have to put in a lot of time and effort into getting rid of the snow in order to go about your day. That isn't even considering whether or not the places you want to go will be closed as well.
Another thing to worry about is the large number of drivers who cannot seem to understand the concept of slowing down when bad weather is underway. You can almost expect to have roads piled with cars and drivers who thought that their busy schedule didn't adhere to the snowy road conditions.
Moral of the story, snow is overrated.
