A quick blow
shatters the whole
into sharp pieces
within an invisible but viewable shell,
nasty in its own taste.
Another whole
sucked into slivers
disappearing completely
upon finish
left with a sweet sensation in the mouth
yet forgetting with time the source.
Many pieces
inside a package
tossed around by careless
soldiers of commerce
caring only about lining their pockets
not about the future of the contents
of a container intent
to deliver sugary goodness
instead full of sharp edges
resolved to wound the guiltless tongues
of unsuspecting victims
who just want a root beer barrel.
