I don't wanna be anything other than me.
As if you needed any more reasons to go re-watch OTH.
One of my all-time favorite shows is "One Tree Hill". So much so that I'm currently re-watching it for at least the 11th time. I'm not sure what it is about the series that makes me love it so dang much, but there's a lot to love. The romance, the characters (I love me some Brooke Davis!), the basketball, and did I mention the music?
Not only does "One Tree Hill" have a killer soundtrack that brings me right back to that awesome time in the early 2000s, but the show is also known for a star-studded list of musical guests!
As if you needed any more reason to want to go and re-watch OTH, here are 5 of my favorite musical guest performances:
Calling all Gavin DeGraw fans: Not only is "I Don't Want To Be" the theme song for the entire show, but Gavin DeGraw himself shows up in season one to perform the hit at open mic night at Karen's Cafe. This performance makes me so happy I can hardly stand it.
Okay, when THE Cheap Trick appeared in the high school reunion episode to perform some of their hits like "Surrender" and "I Want You To Want Me", my poor little die-hard-classic-rock-fan heart could barely handle it. Their performance was awesome, and the entire episode as a whole was incredible. I also absolutely loved the references to the classic 80's movies (hello Ferris Bueller's Day Off and Sixteen Candles!).
Who doesn't love some "old" Fall Out Boy? The band actually appeared on the show a couple of times, and Pete Wentz was literally a guest star, showcasing some of his acting skills for a bit there. But when they performed their song "Dance Dance" at TRIC, I was in awe. I live for Fall Out Boy.
Kid Cudi really showed up on One Tree Hill to perform "Erase Me", and it's still everything I've ever wanted in my life and more. Not only did he perform the song, but he also gave somewhat of an inspirational speech, in his episode, and I'm still moved by it. I'd be lying if I said I don't still bump "Erase Me" on the daily, and I'd also be lying if I said OTH didn't make me love it more.
Alright, so this is a bit different because Tyler Hilton and Bethany Joy Lenz actually performed as their characters (Chris and Haley), but still one of the best, I think. When they sang the song "When The Stars Go Blue" in the studio, I fell in love with both of their voices.
They both went on to show off their talent multiple times throughout the show with various performances, and none of them disappoint. Also, I know Chris Keller isn't necessarily the most beloved character on the show (he's a bit of a shit disturber), but you do have to give it to him that he is entertaining!
I don't care what anyone says, "One Tree Hill" will forever be one of the best shows ever. The fact that there's amazing music and musical guests just adds on to that. Now excuse me while I go and listen to my "OTH Soundtrack" playlist for the next 12 years.
The holiday season is the best season
The holiday season kicked off back with Halloween, and won't end until New Years. Despite, winter not being my favorite season, I love the holiday season. "One Tree Hill" is a television show on the CW that went on for nine seasons from 2003 to 2012. "One Tree Hill" is one of my favorite shows. It has taught me so much throughout the years, and if I'm going through something, most of the time, there is something in the show that will help through it. So, here is what "One Tree Hill" can teach us this holiday season.

One day, you're seventeen looking forward to graduating high school, and starting the next chapter of your life. Then without noticing, someday has come without you even noticing, and it's your life. When you're in the moment, it seems like life is standing still, and it seems like it's never going to end. But then, in a flash, life has gone by. So, appreciate every moment, whether it's good or bad. Because one day, you will look back at the life you've had.

Jimmy Edwards was a good friend of Mouth, Lucas, and some of the others that were on the show in the first season, but slowly started to drift apart. Jimmy couldn't wait to graduate and get out of the school. He battled with depression, and later committed suicide.
Ian Maclaren states; "Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind." I agree. Everyone has something that they are going through that you might not know about. So, keep that in mind.

I'm not saying don't have fun. Don't get me wrong. I want everyone to have fun during this holiday season, and if someone offers to buy you a drink, I'm not saying you have to say no. If you want to say yes, that's okay. I'm just saying you should be careful. You could go with them, and order the drink yourself. Or something along those lines.
Peyton and Brooke learned this the hard way when they went to a party, and a guy put something in Peyton's drink.

Fighting never solves anything, and being mean doesn't get you anywhere. Just look at Nathan and Lucas Scott. They weren't always close. In the first season, for most of it, they were anything but close. They always fought, and it didn't get them anywhere. Slowly, they became friends and brothers, and because of this, they had a better relationship. They worked better together on the basketball court, and they always had each others backs on and off the court.
During Thanksgiving, there is always that rule that you don't bring up religion or politics for a reason. So, avoid sensitive topics that you know that end up in a debate or fight. And avoid stating certain things because no one likes a Scrooge.

The characters on this show have dealt with a lot, but they kept going. They learned from the bad things. It wasn't easy by any means, but they kept going. There was a lot of bad things they had to face, but there was also a lot of good in their life as well.
So, if you are dealing with something in your life, don't forget there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. You got this.

One of the reasons why I love One Tree Hill is the character development. In season one, Nathan was a jerk. There's no way around it. Nathan used Haley for a good chunk of the first season to get to Lucas. He was a terrible boyfriend to Peyton. But then you see him throughout the series. Yes, he makes some mistakes, but he is a way better person. His father Dan also changed throughout the series. He was a character that I had a love/hate relationship with. Dan wasn't the greatest father to Nathan. Due to his mistakes, Dan didn't achieve what he wanted in basketball. So, what did he do? He lived through Nathan, and pushed him way harder than he should have. So much so, that Nathan took steroids to step up his game, and later hated the game because of him. Thankfully, Nathan later found his love for basketball again, but it wasn't because of Dan.
We also saw Brooke Davis develop into this amazing person, and became the person that she wanted to be. She didn't let her past define her. Just like your past doesn't define you, or anyone else in your life. People can change. Don't forget that.

It's the holiday season! Sadly, we can't take off for the next two months, but that doesn't mean we can't have fun. The One Tree Hill characters knew how to have fun whether it was going out dancing, hanging out in Tree Hill, jumping up and down the bed like we're kids again, getting a random tattoo, and so much more. You only live once. Live the life you would be proud of when you are older, and you are looking back at your life. So, don't forget to have some fun.

Don't forget that you matter. Brooke Davis is a good example of this. She knew her worth. She didn't let people or her past define her. Brooke knew what she wanted, she knew she could get it, and she went after it. Brooke later became a successful fashion designer.
People don't know you like you know yourself. So, if you think you can do it, and you know your worth. Go for it. Even if you fail, you can learn from it, and pick yourself up and keep moving.
I hope everyone has a great holiday season!
"Wilmington, NC.. you'll always be Tree Hill to me"
My freshman year of college was spent rushing to get my work done so I could binge watch the life-changing TV series "One Tree Hill" on Netflix. It's all I could talk or think about, and if you loved it as much as me, you know exactly what I mean. When I found out that almost the entire show was filmed in an actual North Carolina town, I knew I had to go there soon. So, spring break rolled around and my boyfriend and I packed up my car for an 8-hour car ride to see Tree Hill (a.k.a. Wilmington, NC) up close and personal.
This town was so much more than I hoped for. I fell in love with the history, the proximity of the beach, the food, and most importantly, how you couldn't walk down the street without hearing some teenage girl scream because she was seeing the "real-life Karen's Cafe!"
Here are 8 places, with pictures from my trip, that you need to see as the ultimate OTH fan in Wilmington:
This red door was all that I had hoped it to be and more. Located just 10 minutes from downtown Wilimington and sitting in the prettiest neighborhood I have ever seen, Brooke's house was the best part of my whole trip. As I was posing for my picture and watched as people laugh as they drove by, I had to wonder how many times this happened in a day. I didn't care, though, because I got to see Brooke Davis' house in real life and it was perfect.
The Naley Bench is located in the center of town on the Riverwalk. There are many identical benches beside each other, so it would've been hard to tell the exact one, but we had a tour guide that pointed out exactly which one was in the iconic scene. All of the tables had "Naley forever" written all over them and my heart melted with each note. The tour guide also handed us a little charm bracelet and took our picture to reenact the entire "don't say I never gave you anything" scene. *heart eyes*
Walking through downtown Wilmington one afternoon, I could not figure out why this certain intersection looked so familiar. We spent an entire hour talking about it until I realized, that was in fact the intersection of Karen's Café and Baker Man. Remember the scene of the Bakers walking out of Baker Man and the Scott's walking out of the café, arm-in-arm on their way to Jamie's high school basketball game? Yeah, how could you forget. Realizing I was walking on the same road as Nathan Scott made my heart skip a little beat, too.
Although the Rivercourt was the only aspect of the show that was taken down when it ended, the park that it was in is still there, and we still went over to see where so many important scenes had occurred. In the place of the Rivercourt was a small area with picnic benches that were covered in messages from fans, and even some notes from the cast, too. These benches were the coolest part because it showed how much of an impact OTH left on so many people. RIP Rivercourt, we miss you.
Peyton Sawyer's beautiful brick house was exactly how I thought it would be. And it was coincidentally right beside Haley's house, which they never showed us. It was on a busy road so it was a quick drive-by picture, but all I could think about was the episode where her crazy "brother" attacked Peyton and Brooke. So many memories of Peyton Sawyer in just 6 short seasons.
Perhaps the most surreal house for me to see was Lucas Scott's house. So many important talks were had on the front porch, I could almost imagine Lucas and Karen sitting there as I took the pictures. And the door that led to Lucas' bedroom, that's it right there. Remember when Brooke moved in with him and he painted it red so she could still continue to be the "girl behind the red door?" I know, how could anyone forget.
I know what you're thinking, we barely ever saw Haley's house because she moved in with Nathan so soon, but this is the place responsible for raising The Haley Scott. Plus, how could we forget about the iconic kiss right on the sidewalk in the pouring rain? The beginning of probably the best fictional couple of all time.
The OTH Bridge was the very last stop as we were leaving the city. All week we had been warned to be careful because the bridge was in a sketchy part of town, and don't dare go under the bridge like the characters in the show once had. With that being said, we simply slowed down for a picture and didn't get out of the car. But, I couldn't let any warnings make me miss seeing the bridge that Lucas Scott ran across in the opening credits. *Cue Gavin DeGraw's theme song now*
Wilmington is the place to go if you are a "One Tree Hill" fan. Every street, shop, and restaurant is filled with locals that can tell you exactly what it was like when they were here filming, especially because they met most of the stars. Six years without "One Tree Hill" but never, ever forgotten. Wilmington, NC.. you'll always be Tree Hill to me.
"It's the oldest story in the world. One day you're seventeen and planning for someday, and then quietly, without you ever really noticing, someday is today, and that someday is yesterday, and this is your life." -Nathan Scott
