I think this for me was originally not as interesting as I thought before reading but when I started reading the section on the number of likes it was interesting. The section about the metrics was unique and I honestly don't think of a hashtag being something that you can take data and metrics on. But that is how companies collect this information. So for example, when I do a sponsored Instagram post with Ambassador Marketing, there is usually a hashtag similar to the hot sauce hashtag that was mentioned in the book. I have a lot of followers that usually like my posts in general, so I am sure that my posts about protein powder and veggie trackers are the most interesting to follow/like because it is more specific to the company. I also try to think of my audience before I do a post because I want to show the company that I am invested somewhat in the product outside of the post, and I think that's what they want.
Now I'm usually not a numbers girl, but since we are on the subject of Instagram likes, there is recent news that Instagram will be taking their likes away. It for sure will mess with the algorithms like it usually does, but I truly do wonder how it will change the overall being of social media monitoring. I personally think that it's going to be more challenging for companies to do their posts without likes on Instagram. It may even change the way other platforms like Twitter and Facebook are as well with their posts because certain users may resort to those platforms after the likes get taken away.
