As a second year in college, I realize that I have been given the opportunity only few could seem possible even though I have a lot more to grow and experience. I am a firm believer that everyone has their own personal story to tell, if not multiple stories, that has shaped their own meaning of life. With this being said, I believe that I have a few stories of triumph and failure in school, with my family, in athletics, and as an independent in college without a mother-figure reminding me to take care of myself. My passions are adventuring, self-care practices and watching Ted Talks as I try to fall asleep. Three elements I could never give up are an ever-growing desire to learn, my relationship with God, and the ability of communication. My main inspirations are my mother who is a phenomenal public speaker and my sister, who once seemed to be a polar-opposite of me, happens to now be an extroverted English teacher for middle schoolers. The hardest thing I have done at school is calling my home in San Diego my second home. My goals are to be an effective communicator of my personal experiences and empower people to pursue education whether it be reading a book, going for a hike in a new area or speaking to a friend after a long period of time to catch up. All these things I consider educational because whether it is on your own or in a group of people, the act of communicating with others or letting the world communicate with you is a skill that I hope to grasp. There are many things in the world out there to experience, and I do not want to be last on the bandwagon to join so I have a desire to write about my adventures, failures and new beginnings in hopes of helping other people re-evaluate their passions in life. I hope that I can fulfill this desire by writing for The Odyssey.
