Yes, I Was, And Still Am, Extra
Extra people live their best lives.
When I was in kindergarten, I had a pair of silk pink pants, baby pink to be exact. They had two pockets on each side and were jogger style on the bottom. I distinctly remember them due to the fact I wore them every day. I would come home after school every day and have my mother wash them so I could wear them day after day. I obviously matched them with a variety of pink shirts too.
One day, during recess the boy I had a crush on at the time came up to me and called me out for wearing the same pants for over a week at that point. It was clearly a jab. Now, most kids would've been offended or even cried. Not me. I looked this boy in the eyes and said, "Well, they are pink, and pink is the best color, and I look good, so go away." That exact moment is when my extraness all began.
Whether it be my crazy outfit choices through the years, my obsession with birthday festivities and attention, or my extreme energy levels at all hours of the day, I am the most extra person I know. And TBH, anyone who knows me would probably say the same. My excessive, dramatic behavior is truly the best part of me. Being extra has this bad rep, and I'm here to justify why being this way is actually really awesome.
People who are labeled as extra are given that title because they usually are very enthusiastic, loud, and have an insane sense of style. However these people are not this way because they desperately crave attention, but because they are dope as hell, totally are feeling themselves, and do not give one crap about what other people think. Extra people live their best lives.
My desire to stand out and be bold stems from not only self-confidence but the idea of being a butterfly in a world of caterpillars. So yes, I like to be different. However, it's not intentional. I just realized that I subconsciously do the most extra things and looking back always have.

Well obviously, let's address the pink situation. So... pink is a lifestyle. As Audrey Hepburn once said, "I believe in pink." I love the color, I love the feel, I love everything pink.
Ok, so what? What makes that extra? OHH I will tell you. Everything I could possibly make pink I did and still do. Embroidered hats, embellishments, and my personal favorite and most extra, pink Kisses on Valentine's Day. Now, because Valentine's Day is everything pink, it's only natural I take part in it to it's fullest extent. So yes, every year, I wear pink on Valentine's Day. I also would buy pink Hershey's Kisses in High school and pass them out in the hallway to literally everyone. It was so extra of me. I loved it.

Middle school was my shit. I call it my tutu phase. Yeah, you read that correctly. I wore tutus in middle school. Ok, fine, in high school too. I loved and still do love them. It was so extra of me. I would pair my variety of colored tutus with fun leggings, socks, or just go bare-legged. I felt so fun in them and used to walk the middle school hallway like it was the runway at New York Fashion Week. People still call me out for it to this day. "You wore tutus in middle school" Yeah, I did. I killed it too. Obviously, my little high school debut of my tutu for the homecoming dance was just the cherry on top of this obsession of mine. Might be extra af, but it's also sick af in my opinion.Isabelle Adler
Next thing on my list of extra would have to be my bat mitzvah.
I had a camel.
And a monkey.
That is all.

Obviously, Halloween has to be included on this. Duh. Would you just look at that extra hair effort and the hot pink skirt? What schoolgirl wears hot pink? UMM an extra one, duh.

Being extra means more than just being over the top and annoying. It means living your best life and giving everything your all. Having no regrets and not caring what other people think. That's one hell of a mentality--one I try to live my life by.
Be extra. Why the hell not?
