Yanelis Martinez

I consider myself to be an activist. At my previous school, I was very involved in campus wide activism and events. At my new school, I would like not only develop an on campus presence for myself but also an online one. I have been reading pieces from The Odyssey for a couple of years and I feel as though this platform allows its contributors to not only share their opinions but it provides them with a safe space to change and question social norms. My goal is to use The Odyssey as a platform for change and advance my activism through it. I wish to not only comment on what is happening on my society as a whole, but focus on how these issues are affecting my campus climate and the communities around my campus. As a student, I am privy to a wealth of recourses, be it professors, peers, staff and so forth. I would like to use these resources as a way of advancing and advocating on behalf of my community.
