When you have multiple siblings, each of you plays a specific role and probably see the world differently because of it. The oldest child is usually the most confident, protective, and of course the leader of the pack. The middle child tends to be the peacemaker since they are typically close in age with both younger and older siblings and can relate to both.

We as the younger siblings tend to have more wisdom than those around us who don't have older siblings to teach them and help them along the way. This shapes us into the people that we become when we enter into the real world and we wouldn't have it any other way.

It seems there is a certain stereotype for each order of sibling: oldest, middle, and youngest. My family consisted of three children so all of the stereotypes were fulfilled. I was the youngest with six years in between my sister and I and five years in between with my brother. Something in me could always spot out a fellow youngest child so what was it?

Being the youngest sibling (of 2, granted, but still the youngest) is overall 1000x better than being the oldest. I never had to worry about setting an example, I never had to take care of anyone else (in theory), I was never in charge. SO many pros, tbh.

All that said, being the youngest can be rough. The literal and verbal human punching bag (all in good fun), never been in charge, SOMEONE WAS ALWAYS IN CHARGE OF ME. Being bossed around by someone who's basically your equal in everything except height sucks.

Time after time, I see articles and lists on my timeline boasting about how incredible it is being the "baby" of the family.

"It's so great to be spoiled!"
"I'm treated like royalty!"
"I'm definitely the favorite child."

While I can't speak for the middle child(ren), on behalf of all of the oldest siblings, there are definitely perks that accompany being born first that aren't experienced by any of the other age ranges. We may not be the youngest, but we're still pretty kickass in our own way.

You can confidently say that everyone in the family took part in shaping the person that you are today.

You're probably a little more sensitive because you were the most spoiled.

You're also more willing to take risks since most younger children are able to get away with more than their older siblings.

If anyone ever threatens your wellbeing, you aren't scared because you know you have backup.

You have grown up to be a patient person because you've always had to wait your turn with everything such as toys, TV Shows, using the bathroom, etc.

You own many, many hand-me-downs.

You handle new obstacles easily because you got to observe your older siblings handle them first (first day of high school, first day of college, first dates, etc).

You're tough because while you're older siblings can often be your best friend, they can also be your biggest bully.

You've always been mature for your age because you had your older siblings to look up to.

You're always referred to as "so and so's brother or sister" but you became used to it very early on in life.

I mean, isn't it obvious?

2. Hearing your siblings' many stories starting with "you don't remember this"

3. Everyone automatically thinks you are spoiled

4. Being the experiment for any of your siblings' boredom

5. Your parents constantly saying the wrong child's name

6. The only photo album you have is probably at your grandparent's house

7. You don't like to admit it, but you do get away with more than your siblings did

8. You're extremely wiser than your siblings

11. "You're growing up so fast! I remember the day you were born!" — my older sibling who has known me for my whole life and sees me almost every day

1. You can bribe them to do things for you.

3. They can talk to you about things they're too scared to talk to your parents about.

4. You get to be their first best friend.

5. You were your parents crash test dummy, so you know the younger siblings' childhood will be bangin'.
