Elias Eddy

I've been defined by writing for as long as I can remember. Ever since a very young age I've been endlessly intrigued by the concept of being able to manifest one's previously intangible thoughts and ideas into something physical; watching the concepts swirling around in my head suddenly appear on paper right before my eyes has and always will be a thrill that I simply can not achieve elsewhere. I am currently studying to be a journalist, and would ultimately like to travel internationally and report on the happenings that are difficult to observe, i.e. war torn countries or natural disaster zones. I believe that writing, though an incredible tool, must be properly utilized in order to enact REAL change, and that the Odyssey is a venue in which making a lasting impact is not only encouraged, but seen as being absolutely crucial. I wish to bring to light that which hides in the dark, and the very description of writing for this site contains calls to be proactive in bringing forth the stories in one's community that aren't being told. The Odyssey is not only a fantastic way to develop the skills necessary to achieve my future goals, but also seems to be an organization that I would be proud to be involved in; an organization that I would be able to contribute to just as much as take away from. On an ending note, I would be incredibly honored if I was to be able to begin my journey with and through the Odyssey, and am hoping you will consider me for your team.
