To me, words are what build my world. I have always looked at the world in terms of words; nothing is real to me until I can concisely express it on paper. As a little girl, when I was scared of the monsters that I was certain were lurking in every closet and shadow, I would close my eyes and make up stories. The worlds a whole lot less threatening when you can confine it to words. Words well written can be a poison or a drug, and sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference. To be able to write movingly and well is to have power. It is the ability to be able to explain yourself and your mind without being interrupted. I want to explore the world with my words; I want to fight injustice and shine light on the truth. It's an amazing world we live in that student voices can be heard through this platform, and I want to be a part of it. I want to write opinion pieces that make people question what they thought was indisputable, I want to soothe the broken hearted and disturb the close minded. I want to write.
