From Out Of Grasp To Within Reach
My mind releases the locked bars of the outside world and enters an oasis.
Drapes drawn to the edge
Open to an endless world
Clear of bastions and boundaries
But sealed off by a ceiling of glass
Guarded by a fence of pressure
Backing us up even further from our desires
Just one stride out of grasp
She was just a ten-year-old with a daunting endeavor
With the mettle and valor to the stand
Eluding all the trip-wires
She headed towards the stage
Her visionary voice has led her to the spotlight
I wish upon a full moon
But the anathema keeps pinning me down
So I embark, on, an odyssey to find a jubilee
Take cab into the city
Passing tolls and ramps and bridges
An itinerary to succeed
I'm waiting at the traffic light
5th Avenue is on my right
Cars zip across the street
Like an electric fence at the boundaries
Keeping me one stride out of grasp
Idling at the corner
Musing at the wonders too far to reach
Bustling urban avenues swarming with infinite crowds
Some of them latching each other's hands
I stare at the sky lined with walls
It was a Sunday night and I saw her on stage
In a crimson dress entering the spotlight
A paragon of affection
Her flawless face, her exquisite smile, her endearing voice drew me in
But I blanch back in the fear of failure
Because she's a luminary
And I'm not a dignitary
Leaving me one stride out of grasp
