Self-Care Isn't A Chore, So Stop Acting Like It Is
Taking time to care for yourself is incredibly important.
Self-care is a lot more than putting on face masks every day (although face masks can be a vital part). It's making sure to put aside some time every day for YOU and what YOU want to do. It's about self-reflection and improving yourself. It's about trying to be the best version of yourself that you can be. It's about doing the dishes before you leave for work so you can come home to an empty sink. It's thinking of your future self.
Taking time to care for yourself is incredibly important. After all, you will spend your entire life in your body so you should do your best to love it, regardless of societal expectations.
My self-care started intensively in college when I first got a job and realized how little free time I had. It became really important to bargain my time well and I realized that I needed some "me-time" every day. I needed time to unwind from all the stress of the day. Quite often, this looks like me putting on a face mask and playing with my cat while watching the Real Housewives or some other TV show.
My point here is the importance of self-care. Make sure to take some time for YOU every single day. Try not to view taking care of yourself as a chore, because it doesn't have to be! Even if you are unhappy with your body, try to find a little time every day to think about things you love about your body. One of my favorite quotes is "It isn't a chore if you're cheerful." So, try to be excited about taking care of yourself and try to maintain a positive attitude and you might just be surprised with the result.
