I love dogs...like a lot, but my Dad told me that I couldn't run a doggy daycare, so I went with my second love: English and Journalism.

Growing up in Lincoln, Nebraska, I knew at a young age that I wanted to do something that would make a difference, big or small. I knew that I wanted to help/connect with others, and I loved to write so an English and Journalism major with an emphasis in Creative Writing seemed right (only after pitching the doggy daycare idea, and getting shot down, multiple times).

I've always been interested in spreading the word, and letting people know what's happening; whether it's the newest fashion trends, current news, or what's the most popular lunch item in the cafeteria. I've also loved writing creatively. In high school, my Creative Writing teacher, Mrs. Kabourek, pushed me and taught me a lot about the craft. She's the reason why I tacked on an emphasis.

I've followed The Odyssey for a while now, and I always find amusement in the articles that are written. They address topics that may seem off from the "normal" subject, and add a sense of humor or quirk to them, making them even more interesting. I would love to have the opportunity to write for the Odyssey because they've shown me that I'm not the only one that is feeling the way that I do, throughout my college career, and they've taught me how to laugh at myself.
