Emma is a freshman at college in New York City. She relies on the strength of words and fluidity in language. She believes that words can heal broken souls, and have the power to touch the darkest of corners. Striving to create and actualize strength in her poetry, she is driven by words to heal, and introspect, focusing on the purity and message behind words. Her pieces center around sexuality, violence, womanhood, birth, the universe, and the unknown. Emma’s writing is an indicative reflection and collection of memories – past, present, and future. As a Highly Sensitive Person, Emma experienced heightened emotions and empathy, creating a turbulent road for her. In the past she battled mental illness, addiction, abusive relationships, and delusion. Discovering HSP has created a gentle healing from depression, anxiety, and addiction. While Emma is influenced by her past, she seeks to instill hope, determination, power, discovery, and spirituality in her writings. She hopes to bring awareness to the quiet power behind words, and aspires to heal others with her words. Emma’s writing compels readers to explore the depths of their soul, encouraging those to revel in their darkness and bring light to all corners of their cavities. She draws muse and brilliance in spoken word artists Andrea Gibson, Neil Hilborn, Sierra Demulder, and Terisa Siagatonu. She continues to find inspiration in struggle, love, laughter, and pain. She is inspired by nature, drawing on her year long backpacking journey through Utah. She is grateful for the experience of writing and spoken word, taking pride in her personal journey, and the strength and vulnerability she has found in sharing her work.
