Caitlyn McDowell

I've loved writing for as long as I can remember. Most of the time, I feel it is the only effective form of communication I know. I was nominated for a writing scholarship in high school after my teacher read a piece I wrote about what it's like to share a household with drugs as a young child. Reluctantly, I shared this piece with my family; it was after they finished crying, and expressed how beautiful my work was, that I knew I could make an impact on other people's lives with my words. I am extremely passionate about the topics in which I choose to focus on, and am often praised for the style of my writing, which I've been told is best described as "genuine." Several articles I've read on The Odyssey have saved me from myself, and I want the opportunity to be able to touch other souls in the same way.
