Jess Suïlenroç

Though I was born in Dallas, I was raised in a small Texas town from ages 8 -16. There I experienced abuse at home and racism and prejudice at school. I have always spoken my mind and was told, growing up that that was unacceptable. After separating from the military, I became a student leader on campus and that is where I finally saw that speaking my mind was okay because I, along with the other officers and student representatives, were the voice of the 5,000 students on campus. Being an officer in Student Government allows me to know the ins and outs of what takes place on both the student level and the administration level. The most important way to utilize Odyssey is by spreading awareness from each party to the other. We live in a time now where emails will not work for most students on our campus but social media is flawless. I will take advantage of it to spread the word. I am now at Prairie View A&M University, majoring in History with the hopes of either attending law school or pursuing my Masters in Higher Education.
