Overview

As an Odyssey Creator, you drive the opinions, ideas, and discourse of a new generation of voices.

The influence of the users on our platform is limitless, reaching millions of readers every month. As such, we like to reward creativity and provide an environment where you can continually improve.

As a Creator, you get:

  • An open platform to share your perspectives
  • Through Odyssey University, a staff of professional contributors that will help you hone your skills
  • Access to a community of like-minded creators
  • Amplification — we help distribute content across various channels to get more eyes on it
  • A chance to earn payment — we provide compensation to Creators based on the organic monthly traffic that your content accrues

How do I earn money?

Odyssey uses an authentic page view model for all creator payment. Creators are paid every 2 months determined by the engagement they accrue within the first 60 days of their article being published on Odyssey.

There are no guarantees under Creator Terms & Conditions about how much, or whether, you will be paid. Earnings are generated based on a dynamic model depending mostly on how and when people engage with your content and the demand for that type of content. More views may lead to more revenue, provided we deem the traffic to be authentic.

At the end of every month, earnings will be determined for creators who have reached the appropriate threshold. If your composite payment is above $100, it is expected that you will be compensated in the next month cycle. Otherwise, payments will be issued every 2 months.

We are still exploring new ways to improve the compensation experience for the creator community so creators can be appropriately rewarded. As of today:

Our tier system of payments may be updated dynamically, and your payout will be determined based on the evaluation timestamp of compensation, not when you published the article.

Finally, we understand that social media promotion etc. can strongly affect view count. The choice of content that Odyssey features on their channels is purely a discretion of HQ and editorial judgement. Creators are welcome to push their article through their personal social channels. However, any un-authentic traffic (e.g. bots) will disqualify the creator from current and all possible future payments, including a ban from creating content on Odyssey.

How do I get paid?

All payments are issued through either ACH or Paypal/Venmo every two months following an analysis of performance in the previous period.

In order to receive payment, creators must use the same email address associated with their Odyssey login so we can verify your identity.

Payments could be deposited via ACH every 2 months once performance has reached the appropriate threshold.

FAQs

Q: How do I work with an editor on my content? A: You can book time with an editor by scheduling a call through Odyssey University. Our team is dedicated to improving your skills, particularly through social media and audience development tactics, as well as good old-fashioned journalism guidance.

Q: How many views do I need to achieve paid incentives? A: Though net revenue is by no means stagnant, the base payment threshold to be qualified for compensation begins at around 25,000 organic views within the first 60 days since your article was first published. You can see your personal stats via your creator dashboard.

Q: What defines organic traffic? A: Organic traffic includes views that originate from personal social shares, direct, or search traffic—not through paid or company page promotion or bot activity. Odyssey possesses the right to examine viewership traffic to determine its authentic nature, during which the creator’s compensation is held for evaluation. Further, if your content has hints it was plagiarized or posted in multiple sites, Odyssey holds the right to refuse compensation to such creators.

Q: Who can I contact with questions? A: Any questions or concerns can be directed to our team via creators@theodysseyonline.com.
