As a pre-law student majoring in computer science and music, harboring a passion for writing that is unfortunately unsupported by its own degree, I have a lot to say on some pretty diverse subject matter, and no way to get my words out there to more than my 1700-student college campus. The Odyssey caught my attention because of its willingness to distribute articles discussing non-generic political opinions, rarely acknowledged critique of culture, and typically dismissed commentary. This is important to me because I feel that the newspaper and the magazine should exist to report on and consider events, opinions, and phenomena of daily life without bias for country, political leaning, or cultural superiority of accepted prejudices. If I were able to use Odyssey to publish my opinions, I would use it as an opportunity to write and spread the kind of articles that mainstream media refuses to, in order to reach the kind of receptive audience that Odyssey provides.
