We Heart It

As teenagers, we are raised comparing our image to others. It is something that happens naturally due to media and the generation we have been brought up in. We are constantly being told to not compare ourselves to others and to love our body and all the flaws that come with it. You get told "you're beautiful" but it will have no true effect unless you believe it yourself. All of us respond to this differently, some try to perfect there image and some just let it work itself out.

As a young girl, I was very confident in myself but I did hit a stage were I was not pleased with that image anymore or with the person I had become. I think we all hit a stage like this a few times in our life and we all respond differently to it. I responded by finding excitement and confidence through beauty gurus on YouTube. I watched my first video in fifth grade by Blair Fowler (@juicystar07). I have been watching videos ever since, although I have never met my role models in person I consider them my friends. They have been there for me through so much and have taught me to love myself and feel beautiful in my own skin. So hopefully you can relate but if you can't and you are struggling to find that confidence I definitely recommend checking out these beautiful inspirational women.

Dear YouTube (beauty community),

Since the age of 11, I have had you all to go to in times of need. You have taught me the obvious which is all things on makeup and beauty but you have also taught me much more. Because of you, I have set goals for myself and have never given up on my dreams. I have gained a new image of myself and a whole new set of confidence that I never had in myself before. You are the perfect definition of a role model, your confidence, passion, advice, friendliness and realness has had a major effect on my life. You have helped me grow into this independent and confident young adult that I am today. You are successful, inspirational women to so many people in the world. You have allowed me to believe in myself and have proved that you really can do anything you set your mind to. This is not only a thank you from me, but also from many other young girls and boys who have found you all to be great friends and beauty inspirations. Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
