What I want to talk about this week has to do with our very own Vice President Mike Pence.
Now, you're probably wondering why he's my topic of interest this week and this is why.
On the 8th of October, Mike Pence went to a 49er's (football) game. In light of the events of what's happening, the NFL protests and the kneeling, we all know that the current presidential administration doesn't approve.
We also know that the 49ers are one of the teams that take part in the kneeling protests. Pence went to the game with the knowledge and also with the knowledge that he had a fundraiser to do that night in California.
Long story short, Pence knew he wasn't going to stay and this entire thing was a huge PR stunt. People are obviously furious with this stunt for many reasons, two of the main reasons being:
1) Pence went to this game knowing full well that would happen if he went. He knew they would kneel and he knew he would leave. Pence deliberately went to this game with the plan of "protesting" the game by leaving which, in turn, left the subliminal message that what the players are protesting are not important to him or the government. The whole thing was planned by Trump and Pence for this to happen.
2) The entire stunt was paid for by taxpayers money - which normally isn't a big problem. However, in light of the other PR disasters that are coming out about Trump and the taxpayer's money (secret service cannot afford to pay for their agents) being spent makes the administration looks even worse. The entire stunt cost taxpayers a total of about $242,500. Which, when you think about it, that isn't a lot of money for people like Pence and Trump but then you take a look at how much a Vice President makes in a year and you realize that they stunt cost almost as much as the yearly salary. That's right Pence give or take makes about $230,700 a year serving as VP. His little stunt cost more than he does.Links to an external siteLinks to an external site.To me, this a PR nightmare because there's not really a good way to spin what happened. It also doesn't help that they, Trump and Pence, are both defending the stunt.
What I have to say is get over yourselves and start acting like government officials, not kids who throw tantrums when they don't get their way. Knowingly going to an event only to, wait for it, walk out in protest *shocked gasps* as a planned stunt shows how immature you truly are.
We all know Pence is known for not caring about those who are affected by problems. Just look at where he stands on LGBT rights and even being addressed by others for how the public citizens are being treated.
Not to mention that he wrote an op-ed piece on Mulan saying how it was liberal propaganda. So we all know how he feels about strong female characters and females in general.
