Back in 2012, I moved back to New York City after four wild years of college in the midwest (shoutout to IU). It was an exciting yet scary time - as real life started, I was worried I was going to lose touch with the people who I spent every day forgetting every night with, but boy, was I wrong.
It seemed like everyone else had the same concern, so we made it our mission to extend the college party life into New York City together. Every Friday and Saturday night, we went through the same steps:
1. Gather the bros for the pregame
2. Text people at other pregames to find out where "the scene" is
3. Hit up 30 girls to roll with and help us get into wherever we were going
4. Attempt to drink like we did in college, still trying to figure out where to go
5. Head to the same basic bar because no one could think of anywhere cooler![]()
It took me about six months to realize I HATED this endless cycle. I got tired of seeing the same people crammed into the same places. So cliquey, so sloppy. BLEH! We're in New York... aren't there a million awesome places filled with different kinds of people? Once I realized I was done with "the scene," weekends became more about exploring new places in New York with my smaller crew of true friends. We were novices, though, and we needed an easy way to discover every hidden speakeasy, underground dance club, warehouse party, rooftop bar and more.
That's when we discovered DIDiT NY, the perfect app for friends looking to make the most out of NYC together.
You can save any spot you want to try into your own themed lists with just one tap!
You get to build lists with your crew, and you can see them mapped out wherever you are!
