To My Younger Siblings As I Come Home For Christmas Break
Maria Nelson

Dear Younger Siblings,

In a few short days, I'll be flying home and we'll be reunited. And just a few short weeks after that, I'll go back to school and we'll be separated again. There's so much we need to squeeze into such a short time so there are a few things you should know before I get home.

1. I'm going to be really tired.

Finals have sucked the life out of me, so if I spend a lot of time lying in bed and watching Netflix, don't take it personally. I really just need a break.

2. I'm a poor college student

As much as I want to take you out to do fun stuff and to buy you cool things, my wallet might actually break if I don't practice some money management.

3. I have to squeeze a lot of affection into a short period of time

You'll be sick of my hugging and touching and bothering of you, but it won't matter because I'll be gone soon and we'll miss each other a lot.

4. I want to see my friends, too

There are many people who I haven't seen in months, yet there's only one me. Please don't be offended if I'm not around as much as you want me to be.

5. I've gotten used to my independence

I can almost guarantee that I'm going to butt heads with mom and dad about curfew and driving my car so just look out.

6. Speaking of my car: I'm going to want that back

I know you've been enjoying cruising around with your friends, and I'm happy to give you a ride, but let me just remind you who was here first.

7. Tell me everything

I want to hear all about your life: the good, the bad, and the ugly since I've been gone. I've been in your shoes so don't hold anything back.

8. You'll find out new things about me too

College changes a person so be prepared to find out what I've been up to between sleeping and dying these last few months.

9. You can be my food buddy

I can't even tell you how many places from home I miss while I'm away so if you ever want to go out to eat, hit me up. I'll be totally on board.

10. Christmas morning is going to be so much fun

I overdid it with the presents and we'll all just get to relax in PJ's drinking hot cocoa. I cannot wait.

11. I missed you so much

Who would have thought that being away from each other for so long would be so hard?

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
