Look at you, moving up in the world! You are probably so ready for high school. I know I was. I couldn’t wait to get out of my junior high school and move on to a new school, meet new people and take different classes. I wanted to be a new person. That didn’t happen right away, but that’s okay.
Over the next four years, you are going to grow and change in ways you never would have thought you could. You're going to meet so many new people who are going to change your life and your outlook, but there are some things that you shouldn't change for anyone. Don't let anyone treat you like less than you deserve, and know that you deserve the very best. Remember to treat others the way you want to be treated, and be a little kinder than you have to. You'll soon realize that every single person you meet is carrying some kind of hurt; don't make it harder for them.
Don't worry about your next step. Let yourself get adjusted and enjoy where you are right now. It won't come easily, but in a few months you'll know your way around and what to do as well as anyone.
Of course, keep your grades up; they're important, but not everything. Make time for extracurriculars and the things you enjoy, and don't forget to spend time with the people you care about. Your friends and family love you, and one day you're going to wish you spent more time with them.
Don't worry too much about what everyone else is doing. March to the beat of your own drum; everyone says it, but that's because it's good advice. Like what you like and get excited about it, and don't let anyone tell you it's not "cool" to like things. You'll meet plenty of people who think it's "cooler" to act uninterested. They're wrong. Life is 100% more fun when you throw your whole self into it, regardless of what everyone else things.
So get up and dance like an idiot. Hug your grandparents. Be nice to your parents. Know that I will always be here for you, no matter what. Take a deep breath. You are in for the wildest four years ever.
