You Will Be Ok

Don’t be afraid to be selfish, and don’t be scared to be happy.

It is hard.

I know it is. It is hard to feel happy when you feel like your whole world is crumbling down. It is hard to feel okay when you feel like everything in your life is just a mess. It is hard to feel fine when you just know you aren’t.

But what you need to know is that you will be okay. You will get through whatever is causing you pain and uncertainty. You will–I promise.

We all battle problems in our lives that we feel like we’ll never overcome, but we do eventually. It may not happen in a day, in a week, or even in a month. It may take three months or even a year, BUT you will get passed it. You will find your happiness again and you will feel whole again.

Take time out for yourself. Do something that makes you happy. You are so use to making others happy that you’re forgetting about your happiness. Don’t do that. Keep yourself and your happiness first, you have to. In order for you to get through this, you have to be selfish. You have to find a place in your life where you can feel okay again.

So don’t be afraid to be selfish. Don’t be afraid to shut one door or one chapter in your life. Don’t be scared to be happy. You should never be afraid of finding happiness. Whether it’s a sport, a passion, a relationship, or even a career, don’t let any chance or opportunity to be happy go.

Hangout with your friends. Go on trips. Learn a new skill. Read a new book. Whatever it is, do it. Do it because you want to, not because you feel like you have to.

You can’t force your happiness and no one can force you to be happy either. You have to feel it for yourself and you have to let yourself become happy. Once you do that it’ll become easier. It’ll become easier to smile, to feel good about yourself. It will help you feel happy again.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
