Life can be hard sometimes

Hey there, friend. Life is a stressful thing, I know. Things may be seeming to pile up to no end, leaving you feeling suffocated. But remember this, you would not take on a task that any part of you thought you couldn't. Even if it's just subconsciously, you believe in yourself and that is all you really need.

"If you can dream it, you can do it." - Walt Disney

Regardless of whatever daunting task you have to complete, you can't count yourself down for the count right away. You can't be your own worst enemy. Go into everything with a clean slate. Don't immediately say "This will be too hard," or "This will never happen," because you are already putting yourself at a disadvantage. Look at people who have been successful and study their habits and just how they became successful.

“Where there is a will, there is a way. If there is a chance in a million that you can do something, anything, to keep what you want from ending, do it. Pry the door open or, if need be, wedge your foot in that door and keep it open.” —Pauline Kael

Put everything into perspective. Maybe something should not be nearly as daunting as you are making it out to be. Or, put more commonly, "Don't make a mountain over mole hill." Talk to friends and family to assess how you are approaching something. Maybe you are putting yourself through more than you have to.

“Press forward. Do not stop, do not linger in your journey, but strive for the mark set before you.” —George Whitefield

Take some time for yourself. Even if you feel that you don't have any time to think or breathe, a quiet walk outside or going to bed early can work wonders for your stress levels and overall mental health. Talk to some friends and settle down for a while until you feel that your mind has been decluttered.

"There will be obstacles. There will be doubters. There will be mistakes. But with hard work, there are no limits.” —Michael Phelps

Of everything in the world, the only thing you can control is you. This includes your mindset, your approach to conflict, and your outlook on others and on life. When life gets hard, remember that having belief in your abilities is all you need. The rest will come. In believing in yourself, you will work hard, work efficiently, and overcome the stress surrounding whatever issue you are dealing with.

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” —Eleanor Roosevelt

You can do it!!

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
