Frankenmuth, Michigan!
The states own little Bavaria! Growing up in Birch Run, just 15 minutes away from Frankenmuth. It made sense for me to get a job in the cute little tourist town.
Over the course of the two years, my friends and I always joked about how "You know you work in Frankenmuth when..."
1. You're uniform for work consists mostly of an apron, bonnet and name tag.
The best part about that is you never have to think about what you wear to work every day. You do however need to make sure it's clean!
2. You're not afraid to wear your work uniform out in public, half the time you forget you're wearing it.
When you're getting odd looks in Meijers and it doesn't even phase you anymore. Everyone has work attire, this just happens to be yours!
3. Your family plays at least twenty polka songs at family gatherings!
But you're able to tune it out because that's what you hear daily at work.
4. You arrive to work at least 30 minutes to an hour early just to get a good parking spot! Especially if there is a festival going on.
Which in most cases happen to be every weekend! Parking a half a mile away from work is sometimes just the normal thing!
5. You know all the back way's into town!
Running late and there's heavy traffic, no problem!
6. You plan your schedule around busy season!
Are you free December third? Sorry, I'm busy from September to the end of January.
7. You know a ton of random facts about Frankenmuth!
"Is the Bavarian Inn and Zhenders owned by the same family?" Their cousins, but separately owned and ran.
8. You're just as close with your co-workers as you are your own family.
You spend almost every holiday together, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Halloween, Mother's Day. You often celebrate with them!
9. You find yourself hanging out in Frankenmuth on your day off!
And of course, when you're in town you have to visit your work fam!
10. You know that despite some rumors, there is no gate and key that opens Frankenmuth each morning.
Frankenmuth doesn't have a large fence surrounding it that we open each morning. Not sure how that rumor came to be but it's sure a great laugh to those who work in the little Bavaria!
