You Do Deserve Better

I know it is easier said than done but it is true.

You deserve better, I know it is easier said than done, but it is true.

There comes a time in your life when you begin to notice who people truly are. This is the turning point into seeing what you deserve and honey you deserve the world and more.

It may be hard to think that you, yourself, is important. I would know it took me nearly 18 years to realize that I am important. Maybe not to the entire world but to myself. No that is not a sign of being conceited, it is a sign that you are your own biggest supporter. In today’s world you have to be wise when seeking friendships and relationships because not everyone is deserving of your heart and soul. People can fool us sometimes but when true colors shine through you have to be strong enough to know if and when you do deserve better.

Knowing what you deserve is crucial whether it be in a friendship or a relationship. You are entitled to fair and equal treatment. Why should you give 100 percent in exchange for something less? You are worthy of fair reciprocation when you offer your all to others. Although you are not looking for a trade, you should be shown gratitude at the least. If they are not appreciative of you when you try your best then you deserve better than them.

Never settle for someone who makes you question what you are worth because you are priceless. Those who put a label on you do not have the power to define you. Too short. Too heavy. Too tall. Too thin. All phases you should never hear but if you do, ignore them because phrases like that should never phase you. They should not because they are words from someone who does not deserve you. They are not worth your time if they think for one moment you are anything but the best you, you can be.

Don’t let anyone hold you back. There is no need for someone to be an anchor to your ship sailing off on a journey. People who discourage you or even tell you that it cannot be done are the people who you do not need in your life. You only need those who help guide your sail in the right direction so you can achieve your goals. Think about all the obstacles in nature you will face, why allow others to be obstacles too? Those who aid you to your destination are deserving of you while others are not as worthy.

Surround yourself with people who not only smile with you but also cry with you too. Look for those who are there through the rain and stick it out to see the sun come back out. They are the same people who will share in both your failures and triumphs. Those are the people that you deserve because our lives are a constant cycle of up and down. The few that prove they can handle you at your worst, deserve you at your best.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
