You Can't Give What You Don't Have

What is it that you want to give to the people you love? Notice if when you thought of the people you love, you forgot to think about yourself. The reason many people crave the things that we want to give to others is because we so often forget to give ourselves those very things.

You can't give what you don't have. If you want to give your best support, love, or care to someone, you have to support, love, and care for yourself. It's selfish to put your needs before others, but when you look at selfish as taking care of self first, it's the best form of action you can take to give yourself and others a better life.

The more you are giving yourself, the more you can give to others. This is because you give and attract what you are, and what you are is a product of what you repeatedly do. "You don't attract what you want, you attract what you are..........If anger, pain, and fear come out of you, it's because that's what's inside." -Wayne Dyer.

Give yourself what you want to give to others, so you can help the people you love, yourself included!

By caring about yourself and your needs, and focusing your thoughts in ways that can uplift you, you not only enhance your wellbeing, but you enlighten those around you, and in turn, those around you will fulfill you in new ways. These shifts in thoughts and behaviors take time, but through persistence, positivity, and patience, your relationships will begin to evolve.

What do you want to give to the people you care about most? Love, support, laughter? Whatever it may be, do something every day this week to give yourself more of that. Another great tip to consciously make your life a masterpiece is affirmation cards. By repeatedly reading affirmations, you begin to develop that belief in your unconscious mind and can more easily manifest the relationships you want.

Mindartists mini challenge: Write "All of my relationships are satisfying to me." on an index card, and read it several times a day for the next month, while imagining the relationships you want for about three minutes. Write several more affirmations on separate index cards with other affirmations for other areas of your life, and follow the same procedure. Ex: "Everything is always working out for me." "Money flows easily to me." "I am beautiful and worthy of all that I want."

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
