You Can Survive College

I know it's stressful now, but you'll get through it.

You Can Survive College
Katie Miller

It seems to me that every college student I know is stressed, like perpetually stressed. None of us sleep or not for very long, at least. We have so much life to live and so much to do and we're all so stressed that we never leave the library or our beds. And on the occasion that we do have some fun, we constantly think about the 5000 things we have to do. Honestly, it sucks, and it isn't fair to us, but I also know that life isn't always going to be this way. College isn't everything and eventually, we'll be happy.

You see, life isn't perfect by any means and it sure as hell doesn't come with a manual to tell you how to live. I wish it did, maybe we would all sleep more and study at normal times during the day, but we're stuck here just trying to get it all together day by day, piece by piece. Bad things will happen, that's just how life is, but the bad things should not define your life. Stress should not define your life. There are so many good things out there left for you to experience. Take a break, sit back, and look at all of the positive things in your life, because sometimes that's the only way you get through the day.

I know how hard everything seems right now, you probably have tons of tests and papers and projects and no money and you're just trying to save your GPA, but please please please remember that your mental and physical well-being are the most important things. Don't let stress consume you. Remember to take care of yourself always, because none of the studying and hard work it worth it if you can't enjoy the outcomes. No matter how crazy things seem right now, this will all pay off. Everything will work out the way it's supposed to, I promise.

You are more than any test could ever define you. You are more than the person your stress makes you. You are so much more capable than you could ever imagine. One day you'll wake up and all of this will be in the past, no more bad professors, no more ten page papers, no more all-nighters. You just have to remember to keep fighting and to take care of yourself.

Take time out of your day and do something for yourself. Just take some time every day, read a book or watch a movie or take a short road trip. Do something for yourself, you've earned it. There's no reason for you to be unhappy all the time, it's no good. I want you to be able to enjoy the outcomes of all the hard work you do.

You will be OK, everything will be OK. Maybe not now and that's alright, but one day all the long nights will pay off. And when things get tough remember that you are loved and you are capable and you can make it.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
