You Can Be A Wreck And Still Rule The World

You're more than the messy details.

You Can Be A Wreck And Still Rule The World

As a college student, I know it can be hard to keep it all together. Actually, let me rephrase that. It’s nearly impossible, and I’m here to say that’s perfect.

When your double shot latte with extra whip comes crashing down on your new Express blouse – it’s OK. Even though you have a presentation in about 20 minutes and you’re rushing to the bathroom, hoping for Mr. Clean to show himself already like in those stupid commercials because you need a freaking miracle – it's OK.

Even when you look in the mirror and you realize you forgot to put mascara on your left eye, so you ask the girl next to you if she has any you can borrow, and she says “No, sorry sweetie,” so you try to even them out with a wet paper towel – it's OK.

Or – maybe after you park in the farthest parking spot possible, because there’s a ton of cars crowding the main lot, and you start trying to run to class through the sweltering heat. You’ve got a back pack full of biology, math and philosophy papers, and you realize you forgot to zip it after you jumped out of your car.

Now there’s random school materials decorating the gravel where you walked, and you only have five minutes before class starts.

Oh yeah, not to mention the professor locks the door right after he gets there.

OK, let’s talk about that time you didn’t realize you set your alarm for 7:15 p.m. instead of a.m., and you slept through your entire 8 o’ clock class.

None of this determines your future.

You can be an absolute wreck and still get an A in your AP Statistics class, because it’s not about how well you dress, if you left your textbook at your parents’ house, or even if you studied the wrong chapter for the test today.

Yeah, that’s stressful, and you might even lose a little hair, but you’ll survive.

I can’t count the number of times I’ve left my cellphone in a school bathroom and have had to run all over campus looking for it. It’s fine.

It happens and when it does, fight back and work hard.

You can do it.

God gave us this passion and determination for a reason. Let your heart beat fast, put on some shin guards and get stuff done.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
