You Are Going To Be Okay

Get some perspective and see things for what they are.

Sometimes the events of our lives fall out of perspective. Maybe we choose to over look the things that need our attention, while we make mountains out of mole hills. How are we supposed to make sense out of the madness that our world is clouded with? The answer must lie in our perspective.

One of my favorite ideas came from a movie I recently watched: playing the long game. It van be a dangerous game because you can lose your way playing it, but with care it can be helpful. When you feel like your drowning in your worries, remember that there is a future. Remember that there will come a day when your present troubles cease to even cross your mind. Remember that you always have hope. Cling to that and use it to sustain yourself in your darkest hour. Hope will only fail you when you lose sight of it.

Remember, this too shall pass. There are brighter days ahead. The sun will come out tomorrow. And when that isn't enough. All you have to do is remember to breathe. One deep breath in and one out. One after another. And eventually you will feel better.

This life can be difficult. No one can deny that. However, there are always moments of joy. A smile will finds its way to your face, and when it does remember what caused it. Hold on to that happiness and let it take root in you. Let the beautiful things in this life fill up your heart and soul and cast out the darkness that you have been harboring. Don't let it fester in the back of your mind. Don't allow it to dictate the way you see the world and yourself. Don't let it control you. You are worth so much more than that.

You have so much strength in you. Don't let doubt and fear blind you to your own identity. You have a place in this world and you will find it. Just be patient and give your best each day. You are going to figure things out and when you do, you have no idea what kind of beautiful life you will be living. Don't forsake your future just because it is unsure. The next second is unsure, so don't let that stop you.

Forge ahead into the unknown. Be brave and be bold for your own sake. You are not broken. At worst you may be severely bruised but your wounds will heal and you will be stronger in the end. Just don't give up. Don't let the pinch of bad ruin your gallon of good. Just take a step back, see the things in your life for what they are, and then let it go. Let it go. Let it go. You are going to make it. Even if it is one step at a time. Just keep moving forward. You will be okay.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
