As people, we compare ourselves to others naturally. I catch myself doing it all the time, honesty, and it is a very unhealthy habit. However, I have been trying to be more optimistic about myself.
Media is very manipulating. I mean, have you ever thought of the word "television?" It is telling you a vision, just as it sounds, or in other words, it’s manipulating you, most likely. It is persuasive. There are always great ideas and positive messages preached by media, but just like everything else, there is also a damaging side. Have you ever been told by 10 people that you’re intelligent, only to have that one person who tells you you’re not, so you question yourself? This works quite similarly to what I’m talking about with media. If you’re feeling negatively about yourself and need some inspiration, here are some facts I’m going to share with you that I hope will make you feel awesome because you are physically, emotionally, and mentally beautiful!
1. You have a body that is keeping you alive, and a brain that gives you your own perspective of this world!
There are 37.2 million cells in the average human body. Your body is also made of over 60 percent water. There are 206 bones in your body, as well. Altogether, your body parts, qualities and everything in between work together to physically create you and help you function, which is astonishing if you think about it — but let’s go beyond your physical being. You have a brain that makes you think differently from everyone else. You have your own perspective of life which is translated from light, reflected onto your retina, then transmitted through electrochemical signals. Even for those who cannot physically see, they still perceive the world through sound waves that hit the eardrum and vibrate into the inner ear. This can create self-interpreted images or visions into their brain, which gives him or her a distinctive viewpoint of life.
2. You have passions and goals that make the world a better place!
Passions are motivating and stem from what we love. They push us to thrive in certain areas that make our souls long for improvement and meet our goals —whether you have a passion for the arts, sports, video games, animals or anything that helps you decipher your purpose. Passions make the world a beautiful place. Think about it, if you long to be an artist one day and have shown your work to at least one person, you could have influenced him or her to reach for their passions, as well! You are influential. Think about who your role models are; I bet most of you share a passion with that person and you find them to be inspirational.
3. You had a one in four quadrillion chance of being successfully created by your parents, and congratulations because you made it!
I don’t really want to explain this one because it’s pretty self-explanatory, and it could get weird.
I know these are mostly scientific, but they are also mind-boggling since the human body is such a breathtaking creation. So, follow those dreams that have been inspired by your perspective of life and always remember your uniqueness and capability of being able to do great things in this awe-inspiring world!
