I know what you're thinking..."Steph, why are you writing about this loser again?" To answer your question, I will continue to write about this human piece of garbage so we don't forget about him. I won't let rapist Brock Turner be old news. I do not want us as a society to one day say "Hey remember that Stanford swimmer kid?" I want us to look at each other pridefully in the eyes and say "Hey remember Brock Turner and how his case changed the way we look at rape culture?" There needs to be a change, and Brock thinks this change will happen by him going across the country and speaking out to colleges and universities about...yep you guessed it; Sexual Assault!

Imagine that! A rapist, who got away with his crimes wasting all of our students' time teaching them about something he was lucky enough to get away with! Should I go and call witness protection and have them bring Casey Anthony out to talk to new mothers about how they should take care of their children? Because that's how ridiculous this sounds. It's the same concept isn't it?

What college wants to have a hypocrite/loser/privileged teenager come to their university and speak to them? Some keynote speaker huh?... I am 110% confident that there is nothing Brock Turner could say that would interest me in the slightest or make me have even have the tiniest bit of respect for him. It would take every fiber in my body to not spit on him and throw anything within reach at him while he was up on stage lying his way through life again.

The very things that Brock Turner failed to do, such as drink responsibly and respect others around him, are the exact topics he wants colleges to pay him for to talk about. In what world does that make sense, Brock? In your little world where everything is great and you can still eat your steak? We'd be paying him for being a rapist. Think about it.

If Brock really wants people to listen to him, he needs to stop acting like he is a victim and man up and be honest. He needs to face up to his actions and tell people that yes, I did commit this crime, but I am changing and learning to be a better person because of it. He needs to apologize to a lot of people, most importantly the girl he RAPED.

I'm not saying that once he does these things everything will be sunshine and rainbows again. No. This is just one small step Brock needs to take to look human again, because right now, I still consider him a monster. It's cases like this and people like him who make rape victims scared to confess and tell others about their assault. They fear they won't be looked upon as the victim, the perpetrator will be. I mean, how many times did we hear about how this would ruin HIS life? God forbid he faces the consequences for his action.

But to end this on a positive note, I just want people to keep talking about this case. It's not enough to let it go and move on and wait until the next girl is found by a dumpster. Girls, this should infuriate every one of you. I pray that nothing like this ever happens to you or your friends, but if God forbid it does, just know I'm on your side, I'm in your corner and your voice should be heard. Don't let anyone who hurts you get away with it. Stand up and fight for your right to justice! God bless you all.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
