I remember being a senior in high school.
It was only a year ago, and I remember sitting here, wondering where on earth I would be attending college. I was dual enrolled full-time at Kennesaw State, but I wasn't sure if this is where I would like to stay or if I wanted to go out of state. As acceptance letters came in, it made my decision altogether more frustrating. I received my acceptance letter from Auburn, and then from Savannah State, and so on and so forth. Ultimately (as you can see), I ended up making the executive decision to continue my education at Kennesaw State, and this, in turn, has been one of the best life decisions I've ever made.
Kennesaw State's student population has skyrocketed in the past few years. Our student population rivals schools like UGA and other big name SEC schools. So, if you were worried that KSU is too small, don't be. Trust me, when you try to find a parking spot you'll realize just how large the population is.
The number of things you can be involved with on campus is endless. There's Greek Life, which I have recently become a part of and strongly encourage, which really allows you to connect with the school and become a part of campus. If Greek Life isn't for you (which it isn't for everyone), there are many other ways to get involved such as intramurals and club sports. There are endless clubs on campus, so everyone can find their niche. You can start your own intramural and club teams, and you can also start your own clubs. It is literally impossible to not find a place where you belong.
The campus is absolutely beautiful during the fall. My favorite building, which is also where I'll be spending the rest of my life as an International Affairs major, is the social sciences building. It houses the Starbucks on campus (*basic white girls, including myself, screaming everywhere), and is one of the tallest buildings on campus.
The Commons, otherwise known as the cafeteria, has received numerous awards for the food. Sorry, Michelle Obama. You can't touch the KSU kitchen with your health rules.
KSU, while very close to home for some of you, including myself, is a campus of its own. Even though you may be only 20 minutes away from home, you will change and prosper in ways that I cannot even relay to you at Kennesaw State. As your acceptance letters start coming in, and as you apply for colleges, just know that Kennesaw State should surely be a part of your list. Hope to see you on campus in the future!
