“I miss the old Kanye, shit from the gold Kanye.”
Kayne West is one of the most hated, yet most loved men in America. He is either hated for his music, motives, lifestyle choices, how he treats people, or how he treats himself. Yet, he is also loved for many of those same things. Kanye has one thing going for himself always: his love for himself. He completely shuts out anything that gets in the way of his dreams and goals. I think that is something anyone can learn from. Now I’m not saying I like Kanye’s actions. He often has terrible actions, but most of the things he gets heated about if he wasn’t famous wouldn’t be a big deal. It is though, because he is in the limelight. People make mistakes and say stupid stuff all the time. He just so happens to say most of the stupid stuff on camera, where most of his life is spent. Even though I may not like his actions, I love the man's music. He has made millions, and I don’t think I have ever met an American who didn’t know his name. His most recent album "Life of Pablo" hit number one on the Billboard 200 with 90,000 equivalent album units sold. An incredible feat for an album that could be streamed before it was even released. Even his shoes sell out instantly. As he says in "Facts," “I ain't dropped the album but the shoes went platinum.” People may hate all they want, but Kanye has the world on his own silver platter. His music, though, has improved so incredibly much since the beginning. My favorites on "Life of Pablo" include FML, Waves, Pt.2, Real friends, and Facts. But let's not forget the old Kanye Gold Digger, Ni**as in Paris, and Stronger. The same people that hate on his ego are normally the ones who listen to his music, which ultimately contributes to his ego even more so, while also contributing to his success.
Just because he has talent, though, it does not mean he deserves respect. Yeezy has made a name for himself whether you like it or not. I have always been one for treating others how you wanted to be treated, but for Kayne, he knows himself so much he thinks he doesn’t need anyone else. He wouldn’t be where he is today without the help from fans, supporters, etc. Another thing that I can contest to is that his new album is so much more real and raw. He may have not grown as much as you would like to see as a person, but his music, the flow, the lyrics, and the beats have developed to greatness. So Kanye, keep doing you. It's been doing you pretty well so far.
