New Years Resolutions You'll Actually Keep

Joining a gym is NOT one of them.

New Years Resolutions You'll Actually Keep

The New Year is here and with a new year comes new resolutions. Everyone knows that resolutions are rarely kept. I don't blame them though when their resolutions are things like "eat healthier" or "join a gym". I don't think I've ever personally kept a resolution either. So this year let's all try to be better at keeping our resolutions. To help you all out, I've made a list of resolutions that you're actually going to want to keep.

Eat dessert at least twice a week.

Dessert is an important part of meal time. Whether you grab one cookie or a giant ice cream sundae with a cookie on the side, make a resolution to eat dessert!

Start, and finish, a show you wouldn't normally watch.

You may be halfway through Gilmore Girls, but why not try a show you'd never thought of before? You may end up loving it! I'll suggest Bates Motel or Supernatural if you wouldn't normally watch these shows.

Carve out time for "me time" once a day.

Life can get stressful with classes and homework. So make a resolution to give yourself time to relax. I find it's easier to do this right before bed, but any time will work. Grades are important, but not as important as your mental health.

Pet a dog every day.

Dogs are good for the soul. It's a proven fact. It's also a proven fact that this is a resolution you'll keep.

Read more often.

I'm not talking about actually reading the chapters your professor assigns. I mean read the books you enjoy. This can also fit right into your "me time" resolution as a twofer!

Wear makeup as little as possible.

I know makeup is a staple for most people, but I promise you're going to feel just as beautiful when you give your skin a rest. If you absolutely can't skip this every morning, make a resolution to take it easy on the contour and eyebrow filling. I know makeup is a get away for some and they don't do it for anyone but themselves, but it might be nice to go fresh faced for a change!

Go to more concerts.

Seriously, concerts are the best. Go to concerts of artists you're not very familiar with or artists you love. Just go to more concerts.

Recycle more.

This is such an easy resolution and you'll be helping the planet at the same time!

Create better study habits.

I know this seems a bit like mom thing to say, but your grades and GPA will thnk you later!

I'm sure this list could go on and on. The secret to resolutions is to make them about things that are actually doable and things you will enjoy. If you don't want to work out daily, then don't make that a resoluiotn I hope this helps. Happy New Year!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
